Poorly pooch
Mia was a bit sick first thing Saturday morning, then she seemed fine so she had a good day on a long walk and visiting different houses. We got home and she went into her crate, thinking she would be tired we then went out for a fee hours Saturday night, got home and Mia had been sick agen, she hadn't eaten much all day Saturday and the sick was yellow green and not much of it.
Anyway sleepless night Saturday getting up to keep checking on her, Sunday she seemed ok, she had a pouch of her usual wet food (James well beloved puppy) and we made her some chicken and rice which she ate, so we was thinking she would now be fine, however this morning she won't eat her breakfast, her belly is making funny noises and she weed on the kitchen floor - very unlike her!!
To be honest, we'r not sure she is drinking all that much so have tried to give her some ice cubes, and her wees have been quite normal, her number 2's have been very small, runny and a bit yellowey... Nice ha ha!!
Anyone any ideas? Thanks

Re: Poorly pooch
If she is eating and drinking normally that is a good sign. Hopefully it's just a bug and she will be back to her old self in a day or two.

How old is she? If she's still very young I wouldn't starve for a full day. Maybe leave one meal out or reduce the amount in each meal & make it bland - chicken/fish/rice/potato. If she's no better in 24 hours, I'd take a trip to the vet. Can't be too careful when it comes to pups.

Re: Poorly pooch
When Rocky was sick recently we gave him a couple of teaspoons of plain natural yogurt. This helps to regain the natural balance of his tummy's good bacteria. It worked for us if wish to try it, that up to you.
Mia has most probably picked up a bug from somewhere, it may have been whilst out walking, you never know.
If you are seriously concerned a visit to the vets may be advisable.
Hope she is better soon.

Re: Poorly pooch
Well she's just gone 6months old, she ate a little bit of chicken and rice this morning, but didn't have a drink, my uncle has just been to check her, he said she seemed fine but didn't do a wee (she normally would have) so now im just worried that she isn't drinking, I won't know til I get home in a couple of hours so I might phone the vet now to see if they could check her over this afternoon?

Re: Poorly pooch
Just to let you all know mia seems ok agen now, she was drinking again but as I had already booked her to see the vet we took her anyway and got given some pro-kolin to just help settle her tummy, firm up any stools (luuuvly) and top up her good bacteria so the natural yoghurt idea probably would have worked just at well... At least I'll know for if there is a next time!
Thanks for your concern everyone!

Re: Poorly pooch
we have been advised by our vet to give yogurt 1 to 2 times a week, to make sure everything is working properly. I sometimes give it more often depending on how shes eating.

Re: Poorly pooch
Yes, Dempsey gets a small pot of yoghurt (natural, not low fat) about 2 or 3 times a month, depending on when I remember to buy it!

Hi Caryll, I've just bought Dora some natural yogurt, but I think it is low fat. What is your reason for not getting low fat? will it not be as good for her?
