little terrier and toy dogs
Where i live, the staff is not very common. most people have tiny little dogs. and if they are not the most nerotic creatures on this earth i do not know what is. people see me and romeo comming and the pick the dogs up. the dogs have a fit because they are trying to attck romeo from their owners arms as we walk past. they are treated like babies. now, romeo is spoilt... really spoilt. he was a Swarovski Crystal coller for when we have dinner parties
but to carry thses dogs in badĀ“bags, do they even know how to walk?
i know i am sick of the dirty looks i get for having a staff pup who's only 4 months and weighs 10.5kgs.
Romeo loves all dogs and loves to play with other dogs, even the tiny toy type, but owners flip out if he as so much as looks at them. it doesnt help that why these 'rats' as i call them are freaking and barking, shaking.... foaming! their owners pat them and coo "oh its ok baby, i'll protect you"
you protect it? who is protecting it from you and your abusive 'loving' its possible to have a spoilt dog, with our ruinging it. ask romeo, he's laying on his fake fur rugs now. he's not a right git.

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
it was a gift. he did a photo shoot for a finnish mag, and he was wearing it in the photo, they gave it to him as payment its sweet, black leather with two links of crystals. i brought a little fake dimond bone pendant to attatch to it. he does look rather smart in it
i'm so riled up from this woman with ... i dont know what it was.. looked like a little mop that had come off the handle attacked romeo to day and then the woman called him the beast. it was off leash, wearing pink bows and when she scopped it up she put it in her hand bag. paris hilton eat your heart out. it was almost foaming at the mouth trying to get to romeo.

Love it. We have the same experience here for the most part. However, every once in a while there is a person who treats their rat-dog like a dog and suprise of all suprises, it acts like a dog! I'm not going to tell my boys about that collar as they would want to move to Finland.

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
We call them yappy dogs. I think alot of times if people have smaller dogs they don't take the time to train them becuase if they misbehave they can simply pick them up.

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
So many owners of small dogs don't feel the need to train them. I deal with it every day at the shop. Almost every time their dogs get snarky at Saxon, he is made out to be the bad guy!
It was nice the other day I was helping a couple with their Dachshund and the husband walked off with the dog while I talked to the wife about a product. He came back a short while later and said, "I just want to apologize, (Dog's name) bit your sweet little dog!" That was the nicest thing any small dog owner had ever said to me!

Some poofy dog owners don't actually realise that they are condoning that behaviour by cooing at them. If you don't even have a tiny basic sense of dog behaviour you shouldn't own one.

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
oh there are so many of them here. worst are these miniature schnauzers, yorkshire terriers, chuauahwas and oriental type dogs, you know, no face, looks like a pom pom ball.
people dont realise the damage they are doing to these poor things. they are more like toys then animals. not only do these small dogs drive me nuts, i feel so sorry for them. they are mistreated in a different way then what pit-bait dogs are. they are like... over loved and treated human babies. which they are not. i see so many fat chuauahwas... like barrels with legs. poor things... stupid owners.
Oh and i'm a hair stylist. i work in a salon, but i also do photoshoots, fashionshows, movies and tv shows

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
Once again idiot owners get them in all walks of life sadly.
It annoys me that some pick them up and treat them like little babies makign them feel superior too other dogs.
I walk my three no problems pulling etc they dont bark etc one of our neighbours has a bichon frise and that dog is yappy and out of control pulls the owner who a biggish man down the road, i have too laugh too my self thinkin gi have 2 staffs plus tara and i dont get pulled down the street.
One thing i will say is i hate the term rat dogs, as staffy owners we dont like our breed name called and i dont think we should do it about other breeds either they are dogs and raised correctly lovely ones too.

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
It was on the news not to long ago, that the dog shelters are being inundated with handbag dogs, because they're not really so fashionable any more. One of the poor wee things didn't know how to go a walk, because he'd only been outside in a bag
Also, when I was on holiday there, I saw a dog in a trolley, with mesh sides so it could see out. Violet would have collapsed with jealousy if she'd seen that - she loves being out and being nosey, but doesn't love having to walk!

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
I once saw someone pushing a staffy in a baby buggy-I actually had to ask her why and she said she'd had an op and wasn't allowed out but thought she'd like some 'fresh air'.
I've always wondered about those dogs in handbags-don't the dogs poo in them?

Nappies with tail holes? Imagine having to pick the poops out your handbag!
I'd think about it more, but Violet wants online so she can try get a buggy off of eBay...

Re: little terrier and toy dogs
That type of toy dog is called a 'stoep kakker' locally. Our Dutch friends would understand the term. I my book you get dogs and you get wuzzies. No prizes for guessing which category is which.

I use it for my amusement, me and my best mate.
Instead, we pick our dogs up (Staffy and Presa) and we're all like: OMG, WE'LL PROTECT YOU DARLING!"
Really winds people up, but it works.

hahahahah i shoul do that. scoop up romeo and be all like.. OMG KILLER DOG!
Re: little terrier and toy dogs
Herman and I have a neighbor who's very involved in a shih tzu rescue. She's great with Herman. The dogs she fosters, as well as her own dogs are great little dogs, even though some of them have been through hell before getting to the rescue. Personally I'm not the small dog type, but some are well behaved, friendly lil' buggers. That said, those that aren't are often that way because their owners are ignorant and treat them like fashion accessories.

Me too. The hypocrisy of people with "handbag dogs" is truely pathetic. We bull breed owners are often accused of having our dogs soley for image. The hypocrisy should be obvious to them, yet they seem oblivious to it. >=P

Reverse psychology. Teaches people a lesson, amuses you and annoys them.
Seriously, did it with my new little man today.
His play his boisterous though...his play mate is a Presa Canario =P

With a LOT of effort. At the moment, we just grab her head and cradle her to our bodies, fake crying.
She gets so annoyed.
