First topic message reminder :
Theres a BBC 1 [uk] programme on tonight: Dogs on Death Row
Highlighting the dog fighting etc etc - maby some staffy type breeds mentioned.... oh and the dogs trust part has been cut out !
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01bbvfk
There has been a huge uproar over this prog on facebook ... gonna be an interesting watch but I fear also very damaging.

if that dog had better owners it would of been sent home.
Re: Dogs on Death Row
I am glad that the program is not flighted here as yet. May be on satelite but I honestly dont think I will watch. Just reading the threads lateley has me really upset. I know that this is real and is going on but its too painful.

I watched this last night and one thing i observed was each dog lived in squaller and chaos and appeared to get no exercise as they were all scared of a lead when taken away, i cant see how the dog can be portrayer as dangerous when it is clearly a social problem of the gutter class owning status dogs

she was total scum but at least she went on camera her son sounded like special needs he couldn't even talk.
but the worrying thing i found i know size goes a long way but one of the tests they done meashering hight and length to determain a square appearance i done that test on memphis and he is 16.5 in high and 17.5 in long so he would fail that test
plus them asian lads should have been charged with something just for saying the police have ruined dog fighting in the area so can only watch it on youtube the horrible p rinks

All Dogs are square if they dismiss 2cm like they did last night....
My sister measured her Scottish terrier and conceded he is a dangerous dog.. Blake is 12" high by 12 and a half long he too would fail and he is full KC

Re: Dogs on Death Row
i wouldn't worry about it i think 99% of the time the dogs that get sezied have be reported so if you dont go show your area showing shoutinf out load you got a pitbull type you wont have a problem.
Re: Dogs on Death Row
Not the point though..... Those tests are not fit for purpose

Re: Dogs on Death Row
nothing wrong with the test if the owner is good and the dog is good the dog will be return to the owner. what is wrong is if the owner is bad the dog cant be rehomed and as to be put down.

Me too I didnt watch it I cant anymore too hurtful
If it were up to me they wouldnt get to have a living thing living with them in the crap holes they call home. They wouldnt get a penny till they were de-sexed stop them breeding the muppets.
I think if your skint and dont have a job doesnt mean you have to live in filth and not give your pets what they need like walks, food, love .
The law in this country is a *, along with the benefits system all needs a good overall in my opinion.
I used to visit houses were the kids were living in filth with nothing and mum and dad both bladdered chain smoking its simply not acceptable they need locking up or a lethal injection if they were my kids id sort them out myself its a cycle of bad breeding

Re: Dogs on Death Row
well there is a lad that lives in my area who has clearly got a pit bull dog that has bitten dont know how many dogs killed one dog and bit one dog owner and he got took to court given a 800 pound fine and he has still got his dog no tattoo but must have a mussal and the only reason he can keep his dog is coz he is a police grass you would not belive the amount of people that has complained about his dog and he always gets away with it the police round here are a jokeSteve wrote:i wouldn't worry about it i think 99% of the time the dogs that get sezied have be reported so if you dont go show your area showing shoutinf out load you got a pitbull type you wont have a problem.

Re: Dogs on Death Row
I also watched this last night on iplayer, had Charlie cuddled up with me on the sofa and I cried like a baby. It was heart breaking to see those dogs so terrified and banging their legs on the way into the car and freaking out about the leads. And to think that beautiful dog could have been saved if his owners weren't such scum, its truly disgusting. He was a real darling and you could see the police really felt for him.
I don't think the show was anti bull breed at all. I think it did a good job of high lighting what we all say every day - there are no bad dogs, just idiot owners who let them and the rest of the breed down.
