Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
First topic message reminder :
Hi everyone
Just booked Tilly in to get her bits sorted next Thursday. Veterinary Nurse has basically told me on the lead in the garden for 2 days , stitches out after 10 days and just keep her quiet for that period with lead walks as normal after the first 2 days. She will be the most pampered pooch ever , but I would appreciate advice from everyone on how long recommended for her being fully back in action and her normal excitable self and any other advice you can offer
Thanks all

Re: Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
Getting excited and also a little distressed now !! Stitches coming out on Saturday and then back to some good exercise .. for both of us Tilly has been behaving a little oddly over the last few days with some sporadic shaking when laid on bed as if she's really cold (when she goes under the covers she's fine). Looks at me like I am the worst person in the world from the comfort of her bed under my desk as she hasn't been getting out at all (the Vet told us on our 2nd visit after the op to keep her to the garden until she got her stitches out). And she seems to be nesting .
Hopefully she just gets like me and has too much time on her mind at the moment and the exercise will get her back on the right track

Bless her, I'm sure its boredom and the prolonged upheavel of the past few weeks. I have heard of phantom pregnancy in bitches even if they have been spayed.
I would definatly leave it a few days after the stitches are out though before she goes off lead though. Gentle walks because of the internal stitches.
Not long now though and all will be back to normal Xx

aw she looks lovely wrapped up nice and snug. you do feel for them dont you and i know i almost cried when i left my Lemmy at the vet for he's i had never been away from him for a full day before and i was worrie dhow he would be while waiting but the vet tech said he was really good and didnt cry once (the little pig) now she's home and probably back to her usual self and you are trying your hardest to keep her calm without much success. we all feel for you those that have their dogs done know what you will be going through.

Re: Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
she's hit her sensible stage , Ive been away all week and only got a little jump when I come home but you can see she's trying to contain herself (like the little kid at school on first day thats dying to go to the bog but too shy to ask)
Anyway Friday is 7 day and they said 7-10 for her stitches, think they are pulling at her now, or at least we did on last belly inspection 1 hour ago. Daddy kissed them better and now she's having a knap

Good luck, not that it takes long.
Only another week and you can take her out

Another week ??? Our vet said we could take her out straight away after she had her stitches out, originally he said lead walks in the garden for 2 days, then gentle walks till she had her stitches out but then he changed his mind and said keep her in the garden. TBH the last couple of days she has done a 15 minute walk on lead outside and been fine, now I'm worried that we are doing it wrong

Re: Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
When Moo was spayed 2 years ago my vet advised no exersize until the stitches where out, and then another 7 days as its not the external stitches, but the internal stitches also that need time to heel.
Granted I did start lead walking her about 4 days after, but only for 10/15 mins at a time on lead.
I guess vets are different Xx

Re: Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
Well, I double checked with the vet today and he was adamant that she was fine for anything !! He's a great vet but I am being a little cautious , some gentle walks , let her off lead where it's quiet so she's not runnig about like a mad thing.

Re: Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
she's done ok today , been out in the car with me all morning and then a nice steady one (off lead ) doen Rudyard Lake sniffing around the snow and ice for half hour. That's enough for today she says , currently under my desk keeping my feet warm and the rest of the walkies will be confined to the garden.
Spent last night on her back on our bed proudly showing off her battle scar , legs akimbo and farting for England , she's back good and proper

Re: Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
It seems like ages , all she knew is 1 day we starved her , the next we put her in the car and took her to a man that cut up her tummy, then she didn't get walks no more and now it looks like we have changed our mind and decided we should walk her again, but we are winning her round. Didn't help much when I packed my bags this morning to go away for a few day though

Re: Tilly's booked in for her lady op next week
I'm just being a little cautious at the moment as we had her stitches out on Saturday (9 days) and the Vet said we were fine to just let her go for it but other people (on here and family) thought we should take it a little more steady. I'm goin gwith the majority. She can jump up and down off the bed and the couch ok She enjoys a mini gallop off lead where it's quiet, but she still has lots of quiet time and gives me evils when I'm not looking, and she has her appetite for gummi bears back:) , however , I've been told by the nasty Vet man that she needs to drop a kilo so trying to be careful and not spoil her, roll on getting rid of this rubbish weather and we are going to work on this cycling thing
