rabies shot-is this normal?
Last week Romeo got his first rabies shot, and a chestnut sized lumped formed on his neck to which the vet said was normal at the time. but its been a week and the lump is really obvious and kinda hard... is that right?
Re: rabies shot-is this normal?
Sorry not got a clue about the rabies shot but the lump is normal probably in the muscle

Re: rabies shot-is this normal?
its like free moving like i can grab it and raise it up with his skin so i dont think its muscle. he did have a pretty hard fall last friday so i dont know. i think when his breeder comes back from thailand i might get her to take a lot. hopefully its nothing to worry about... i hope
Re: rabies shot-is this normal?
It probably is normal but most immunasions are the actual virus itself in a very mild form and the body reaction is too attack the virus (injection) and form a immunity that may be whats going on im not sure though better ask the breeder to check it out to be on the safe side.
My mum and dad has just come home today from thailand been visiting my brother and his wife for chritmas they had a great time

hahahah Minna (the breeder) she didnt want to go. she has 1 german shepard, 2 grown stafford bitches and Romeos sister. she was saying how being gone for two weeks while the pup was so young was heart breaking, but her husband has made her do it. I cant even go a day with outseeing romeo... cant imagin two weeks....
Yeah maybe thats what happening... it is where they injected him. I know very little about rabies though. they dont have it in australia and its VERY uncommon here in finland, but we do it for the better safe then sorry thing. all i know about it is the dog goes crazy and bites you and dies a horrible death, so i dont know what kind of reactions he might have had to the shots

I don't remeber this happening to any of mine but if the vet says it a normal reaction it is surely fine.

she said it was normal when she pricked him with the needle... i'm just wondering if it was meant to last this long...

Jimi had a lump in his neck when he had his injections. It was quite large and lasted for nearly a week. I wouldn't worry about it, it'll go down eventually.

It can happen to people too if they miss the muscle and inject it between the fat and muscle. It will get absorbed into their body, but it is kinda a mistake. Not horrible. Can happen with people too and usually leaves a bruise as well. Hope Romeo isn't too bothered by it.
