Sore paw
Just noticed Ty licking his right front paw. When I took a look it seems very red in between the pads and the front two are swollen when I compare with the left. He is not limping but he tried to pull away when I pressed on one of the pads. I cannot see anything like a cut or abrasion or glass splinters. We sometimes have to avoid smashed glass on the paving after the weekend crowds at the lake and I do check his paws after to make sure he has not trod in any shards. I dont want to put anything on it as he will just lick it off which may just aggrivate the inflamed area.
Any ideas (I will take him to Dr Pete in the morning in any event)

Re: Sore paw
Clean it with an antibiotoc I use TCP usually. Or try plain salt water.
Moo was limping the other month, pulled a muscle my guess and tbh I dodn't go to the vets, if you've examined it properly then what can be done?
Hope Ty is ok Xx

Re: Sore paw
Hope he is feeling okay. Our Bulldog had the same issue. I didn't see anyting in her paw and the vet didn't either. He ended up having to make a small cut around the area and sure enough there was something stuck inside the paw.

Re: Sore paw
I would bathe with salt water. Hope he is better by the morning after resting it.

Re: Sore paw
He is not licking it this morning but the two front pads are still very swollen and he pulls away now when I try and get a good look. I have an appointment at 3.30 this afternoon with the vet. The vet is around the corner and Dr Pete knows our whole animal family very well so it is no sweat.
I will feel better knowing whats up one way or the other.

Re: Sore paw
Appointment pushed to 4.30 which is just as well as we are in the middle of a thunder storm and it is bucketing down.

Re: Sore paw
There is a small fissure inbetween the pads. Whether this was caused by a cut or by licking is uncertain however he does have dermititis on that paw so we have got antibiotics and some pain killers. He also has to were a sock taped up so he cant get to it to lick. I declined a collar as this seemed a less invasive way to go (for me). We ccannot get it wet so with it still pouring and puddles everywhere we are holding of going out for a walk. Hopefully it will be dry in the morning being first day of training and his first agility class.
