another question about coats

I am after a coat for billy, they say to measure along the back and he is 35cm ( 14inch) . So do all coats fit a staffy, I am worried in case it does not fit around the tummy. I measured him under the tummy at the widest part and he is 61cms (24 inch)

Is this a normal size - what size should i order

Not all of them will fit a staff! I use Barking Mad because they will make a longer chest/waist strap.

I've just ordered a waterproof Rambo Warmer for Dempsey. It cost £25 including postage, but they are good quality & should last for ages.

I have found I need to make sure. I have had to get size L or XL depending on the chest, especially if there are arms on them. Lots of the coats will give a range for the size chest it fits.

That's the one I just bought for Dempsey. They post same day if you order early enough! For Dempsey's size it cost me £25 + a bit (can't remember!).

am I measuring billy wrong then, he is only 14 inch across the back from neck to beginning of his tail so do I order a 14 inch one which is only £15.98

which size did you get for dempsey

just spoken to them I have obviously measured him wrong, staffys are normally from 16 - 24 inch

Cudn't help poking me nose into this post as i need to find Inca a new coat for the cold weather coming in... Am just not sure if to get the extra bit for her chest as she is deep chested but arn't most staffs.... What do you reckon Caryll ??

God ..... Just measured Inca around her chest at the deepest bit an she is 28 in.... She's only 15 mnths (is that ok or freakish !!) ...

Am guessing i need the extra bit for the chest ..Hhmm

Ok cheers lynne... Its abit daunting innit getting a new coat for our dogs and with the deep chest makes it even harder as av bought 2 coats which look great on other dogs that are modelling the coats so you can get a rough idea of what they look like... but the minute i try them on Inca they just look stupid or don't fit round her chest !!!

Am deffo gunna get this rambo coat though for her and me thinks the extra bit for her chest is needed haha

all i looked out for in a coat was an adjustable strap that fastens round the middle. i picked ones with adjustable straps and necks so i knew they would fit.

I have had a lot of trouble with anything that have arms. Even XXLdoes not have the armholes set far apart enough for the Staffy's broad chest.

which size did you get for dempsey

I got 20" plus the extra depth bit.

I'd go for the extra bit - I did for Dempsey. The trouble is, most breeds don't have that depth of chest so normal coats are either the right length but won't do up, or they'll do up but the coat overhangs their backsides by 6 inches!

my OH re measured billy last night and he is 18 inch with 26 inch round the tummy
