dog coats
Hi, looking ahead to the winter and thinking about getting a dog coat for when out on walks. Anybody recommend where to go? I need one that I can use with the mekuti harness/double ended lead.

Re: dog coats
I have a 'Blanket' (its a coat) made by 'Rambo Horseware', Moo has had it for 2 years and the velcro is finally going, but its water resistant, warm, wipes clean and drys very quickly, just pop it into google

Re: dog coats
Thanks, had a look at these, but doesn't say they have the slits in the top. Need to be able to use it with the harness - one end of lead on top of harness and other end goes through eye at front of harness. Don't really want to put the harness on top of the coat.

Re: dog coats
I HAVE to use a harness - otherwise he takes me for a walk. Apart from a head halti, I have found the mekuti harness to work really well - gives you a lot more control.

Re: dog coats
Rocky has a Muddypaws coat that we use in the wintertime. Unfortunately it doesn't have a harness slot or anything but we could put the harness on over the coat, have you thought of trying this too.

Re: dog coats
The only thing I use is a hoody for really cold nights as the kitchen where Dempsey sleeps isn't heated.
He does have a raincoat, but I don't use a harness, so it's just an ordinary one.

Re: dog coats
A lot of the dogs I see round here in a harness/coat combination have the harness over the coat, maybe that would work for you?

Re: dog coats
We put the harness over the coat , much simpler and gives you a better choice of coats

Re: dog coats
i always put my dogs harness on over their coats, if the coat fits properly there isn't a problem. Equafleece dog coats are really good, they let the dogs run free without any danger of them coming off. There are various styles to suit the dog's needs. I will be buying one for my foster dog, as he is a thin coated Lurcher he will need one. I have friends who use them, the dogs go swimming in them, the dogs are still warm when they are wet but are not heavy with water.

Re: dog coats
I put Blu's harness on over his Parker, makes him look like he has a parachute on but works really well, the coat has a slit for the collar but I don't use a lead on his collar, just his harness. We do have a different harness for when he wears his coat, he uses a cosydogs fleece harness for just the harness and a leather/nylon harness for when he wears his coat.
