what do u feed your dog?
im feeding bruce on freeflow minced beef at the minute mixed with his junior age biscuits. i also feed him minced tripe which he seems to love also mixed with biscuits. Its the frozen stuff, i leave it to defrost in the fridge in the morning and its ready for his evening meal. he gets 2 medium sized bowls a day, one after his morning walk, one after his evening walk.
i also feed him an egg twice weekely and fish probably once every week. he also gets the usual treats mostly fed to him by my mrs :/. hes packing on the weight looks really solid, not overweight tho imo, had him on the scales and hes just over 19kg .Just wondering what everyone else fed their staff see if i can get some ideas

Re: what do u feed your dog?
I do a prey model raw with a base of chicken quarters. He also gets egg, fish, offal, with occasional feet and other meat scraps. I also give him a freeze dried mixture a few times a week as it has some other vitamins and such added into it (besides when he needs a little roughage to get "things" moving if he has had extra bones). Lots of food stuff here and at the top Steve has put in a feeding portion now. Sounds like Bruce is doing well!

I also do a prey model raw diet for my two with lamb and beef as a base of their diet, and add in fish, eggs, ACV, salmon oil, garlic, herbs etc

Re: what do u feed your dog?
I'm struggling with my english bull at the moment : ( He's 14 weeks old. He came to me on WAG and mince, but he was getting bored of it. Tried him with tripe but it just gave him the runs : ( I've had him on rice and chicken to help with his runny stools, then tried him with rice and chopped up minced beef burgers, and now the wag again ... I am completely stuck with what to feed him and to stick to it : (

Re: what do u feed your dog?
Andy you crack me up. To be honest, I dont think feeding dogs raw is either well known or popular here. I had never even considered it. Ty is fed Royal Canin dry food (kibble) with things like chicken and sardines added about twice a week for a little variety. His food is only available from the vet. Am I doing it all wrong?

Not at all! Moo was on Royal canin sensitivty control, it helped heeps A raw diet doesn't suit us.
I would suggest ordering offline if you can though, although the vets endorse it, its a lot cheaper online Xx

Re: what do u feed your dog?
Violet is just on dry food, with a bit of wet mixer to make it a bit more exciting for her. Sometimes she'll have eggs too, or some fish. And very often she'll manage to get a bite of my dinner too

Nope, you are doing fine. Each dog and owner is different. Mine just thrives on raw. The key is knowing what works for each dog and owner and going with that. There are some horrible foods out there but I don't know of anything wrong with Royal Canin (always considered it a good food). My last dog was on Canadea Lamb and Rice. If Ty does best on Royal Canin, can't nobody mess with that!

Re: what do u feed your dog?
Blue buffalo with eggs, yogurt, er this other stuff we get is like a meat brick thing that we shred into the dry kibble add a tablespoon of hot water and mix it around, Daisy has had so many issues with foods, we have tried all kinds of dry kibble, out there. she also has allergies, unsure to what.

Re: what do u feed your dog?
Dora is on any flavour of James Wellbeloved kibble. She always seems keen to eat it and seems to be developing and growing nicely.
We like feeding kibble cos we can put it in her food ball or shaker and it takes her a while to get it all out and eat it. She only gets it in her bowl when we are short on time.

Tripe will often make a dog's poo soft. Also, if you suddenly change your dog's food he can get a bit of an upset. What sort of tripe do you feed?

Re: what do u feed your dog?
ok I am not up on all the differnt foods, What is Barf, WAG, and others, around here people usually go with dry kibble. Daisy is the frist dog of my own and we are exploring all options that are extremely healthy for her, she has a hard time likeing foods, and other things

Re: what do u feed your dog?
After years of getting 2/3 different bags of dog food ( for different age dogs) and experimenting with different foods. ive just recently find a dry food that not only do they all like (which is a first) but it is suitable for all age groups. its acana (wild prairie). they love it. They also get fresh bones every week

Any are fine but must be raw and marrow bones shouldn't be given too young (plus they can be very messy).

There is a link at the top of the forum home page that goes through a bunch of the feeding options and what they are. Remember, most of the members here are not in the US so some of the brands are not available here (i.e. WAG). Barf is a kind of raw diet philosophy as is prey model. Those are just two variations of feeding raw.

Re: what do u feed your dog?
I know recently we did give daisy a venison bone, but we boiled it first, then she ended up with some larger chunks in her stools, and seemed as if she had an upset tummy, including very soft stools. would this be normal?

Boiling is a no-no. It makes it brittle and that's why chuncks were there. It actually hardens the bone. Keep it raw and it will be 1000 x better. Also, if it makes her tummy upset, it could be that she isn't used to it and also could be she doesn't do well with venison. Perhaps beef bone would work better for her. Whatever you do, please do it 100% raw. Sounds gross, but it is better for her.
