i had diesel done on wednesday and was told by vet it would help calm him down, i know its only been a few days but hes still like a loony, hes trying to hump my leg and get on my two bitches even though hes got stitches and a cone stuck on his head its like he does not even know they are gone, does it take time to sink in?

Unfortunatly neutering doesn't necessarily calm them down, only training will do this, but with a fiirm no, he will get the hang the hang of it.

Nice to see he is full of beans after his op though Wink

Neutering doesn't always stop the humping either,it's very early days so will take some time for the hormones to settle down.

As Janey said neutering doesn't always calm a dog down,it comes with age and training.

As above, really! Although the hormones can take about 3 or 4 months to completely leave his body.

Sometimes I think neutering gets pushed a little too hard by promising to do this or that, but really it varies for each dog. I'm guessing it may help some, but I've always found you have to train and keep training or it all comes back. Even girls sometimes do the humping even after being fixed (although less). Diesel is still young, so keep training and you may find it easier going (probably less drive to do it). My last male was fixed and required a lot of training and correcting, even more than my current male who is intact.
