Sleepy Rocky attacked again

Post by Kathy Sat Dec 03 2011, 18:57

My hubby and I took Rocky out for his usual afternoon walk at 4pm today, went through the woods as we normaly do, which are in our local park, and came across a GSD and a Mastiff x thing. We have seen them before and Rocky does usually have a grumble at them and nothing usually comes of it, we just keep on walking past them. This time they were both off lead which is unusual. The GSD then went for Rocky who somehow got out of his harness and therefore away from Andy (my hubby) he was walking Rocky this time. There was a woman walking the other dogs.

The GSD definitely was at fault, I was in a position to see what happend. It growled at Rocky then just went for him unprovoked. Of course Rocky will be to blame being on the lead and under control. As the attack went on from the GSD Rocky managed to get hold of it and he would not let go. After what seemed like hours (but was probably only a few moments) we finaly managed to get them seperated. As we walked away we noticed a wound on the top of Rocky's head which we thought would need stiching. OK off to the vets then we go.

When we get to some light after getting out of the woods we notice that he is in quite a bad way. He has a long wound to the top of this head and another as well.

We took him to our vets and he had to have his head shaved so the vet could see what was what. Poor little fella looks like, well I don't know what to be honest. I will put some pictures up as soon as I stop shaking so much.

Sorry for the rant to just had to vent it somewhere. Thanks for listening, sorry reading.

Oh love thats terrible, and again. Well done thinking quickly as it could have been a lot worse.

Hugs to you all, and pour yourself a strong drink. When you see them next pass over the vets bills also, they should be liable not you.

Try and enjoy your evening, grr annoying people Sad

Aww no sorry to hear this, poor Rocky. And poor you too, as you guys must also be shook up! I definately agree it was the other dog's fault, maybe that is the reason they are normally on lead when you see them. I hope the other owner apologised to you on her dog's behalf. Hope your all ok soon!

Hi, Rocky would like to say a big thank you to you all for your messages of support. His wounds look a little better this morning not quite so bright red and angry. I do have some pictures that I will post later but need a little help from hubby for that.

As for Andy (hubby) he is another wounded soldier right now. To cut a very long story a bit shorter he was born with a problem with his leg. He has a twisted femur bone in his right leg which was due to him being born with a dislocated hip that was not diagnosed soon enough when he was a small boy. Anyway this obviously causes a great deal of pain and after many large operations on it throughout his life he still needs another operation on it now. We are currently waiting to hear from the hospital/doctors to see what can be done.

Last night and early this morning he was very badly sick due to the muscle spasm pain in the leg. He took his medication but just bought it back up again. I had to phone the out of office doctor service early this morning and spoke to, and I must be honest, a useless doctor. He did however have the good sense to contact our GP a wonderful lady doctor who has a very special way of getting things sorted out. I bet she tore the other doctor a new behind, she is that type of lady. Anyway after speaking to her we got things sorted and Andy is currently asleep. Will need to make an appointment to see her tomorrow, hopefully.

Sorry for the rant, I know this probably isn't the place but just wanted to say thanks to everyone. I may not be on here for the rest of today, sorry you will have to wait until tomorrow for some more bable.

Oh I hope they're all feeling better very soon. Oh - and I'd report that lady with the GSD if I were you. If the dog attacks again you can prove you've reported it in the past + less likely they will think your dog is to blame.

Post by Kathy Mon Dec 05 2011, 11:01

Hi and thank you again to you all for your support and good wishes. A quick up date on things so far.

Rocky looks much better today his wounds are healing nicely. He is on a course of antibiotics which will sort out any infection. He has along cut down the front of his head which goes down almost to his eyes, that was lucky it didn't go any further down. There are then a few smaller cuts on the top of his head one of which is going to scar because of how the skin has been tugged. There is another cut near his right ear which is not so bad as the others, this is also healing well and I don't think will leave any scar. The vet had to shave and cut his hair way to be able to see the wounds so at the moment things look quite horrific at least until the hair grows back a bit. My poor little soldier, I cannot let him see on my face how bad he looks, so his is still my gorgeous baby and of course always will be.

As for hubby, Andy, thank you again for your good wishes. He is also on the mend and feeling a bit better today. Our GP came out to see him yesterday morning, gave him a prescription. We will make an appointment to see her tomorrow. Not sure if she was on call yesterday or not. The lady is a great doctor, just wants to see her patients get better. Hopefully all back to normal soon. What ever that is. Smile
