bathing
Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any shampoos they could reccomend. I havent bathed Vinnie since I have had him, but he is nibbling hiself a bit and think his coat is getting more coarse. Should I have washed him earlier as he is now 4 months old? advice please

Re: bathing
I don't know what you have over there, but I have used various baby shampoos as they tend to be gentle. I have always figured that if it is good enough for a human baby, it's good enough for my dog.

Re: bathing
We use an allergin shampoo for Suki that we got at the vets. It might be time to give Vinnie a bath if for no ther reason than to get him used to it while he is still a pup.
If your not already doing it you should also start to handle his feet, nails and ears. The early you start the better I think so they will be used to it.

I very rarely bath Moo, only when she has been swimming

Re: bathing
Yes Janey, I never bathed my minature smooth haired dacshaund only wiped muddy paws, and his coat was so shiny and no skin probs at all. I wonder if bathing too much takes natural oils out?. But saying that I think I will bath Vinnie once and then see what happens!!!

Re: bathing
yeah only time I bath Russ is if he is smelly, or if his coat doesn't feel like it normally does. it is good to get them used to it though!

Same here. Dempsey gets about 2 baths a year (if he's unlucky!).
