Just wrestleing, he has an old hoodie of mine that I used to stuff his Nylabone's down the sleeve's and get him to try and get um out ... but obviously it's just like a big torn rag now covered in puncture holes, but when I pick it up and look at him, he knows its fight night and dives on me .... I can tell he's matureing a bit now, as it's not quite so painfull for me as he is able to control his excitable strength a bit better now ... but it's still pretty rough n tumble ... and he loves it

Re: Fight !!!!
Lol ... its brill when they know whats coming cus you can play on it a bit
Max sometimes tells me he wants a wrestle, he will ignore all his other stuff and bring me the hoodie, so sometimes I very slowly put my hand towards it as if to start the game, (Max watchin my every move like his life depended on it) .. and then pull away , and do this a few times till its obvious he's gettin frustrated ... then ... all hell breaks loose !!!

Re: Fight !!!!
Sounds like he loves to wrestle. Rocky loves this too, with a game of tug mixed in. Great fun.

Re: Fight !!!!
I do this as well. Although not too often becuase I don't want Suki to think it's okay to be aggressive with people. She does really enjoy it though.

Re: Fight !!!!
Depending on when we scrap, he still sometimes starts to "glaze" which is obviously when I stop it dead and go into another room, he is gettin there slowly bless him, my other two bully's (Bull Terrier and Staffy) would both stop instantly on command, but Max is still at the pup stage and not yet fully in control of his energy whan he's in "beat up dad" mode ... but as he's my third bully, obviously I know exactly when to knock it on the head, and calm him down

Re: Fight !!!!
I know what you mean about the 'glaze' thing... Russell used to get it when he was harassing my parents dog bonnie, and you couldn't stop him with any noise or yelling, had to actually remove him from the situation. luckily he listens now!

Re: Fight !!!!
Its not a bad or negative thing, as long as it's spotted before it goes anywhere, all Staffy's have that intense focus in my opinion, its what makes a staffy what it is, but unfortunatly its the same thing that can be their undoing if taken advantage of

No, I don't think so. My Bandit's eyes used to glaze over when he got over excited or angry - they used to go quite blank & unresponsive.

Re: Fight !!!!
I found that the only way I could stop it was to stroke the soft skin inside the top of the thigh. It used to bring him back to normal fairly quickly if he got carried away playing.
I never tried it when he was having a 'go' at another dog, though........didn't fancy getting bitten!

Re: Fight !!!!
Id never encourage it we know its there and exists and we have to be proud of it in our breed its what makes them what they are but that day I could have stroked his 2 furry round things and he only would still have come back to me as my dog when he was ready

I have found its not quite the point of no return by any means TBH mate, as I said, as long as you remove the fuel from the fire as soon as you see it ... ie: stop whats exciting them immediatly, they can calm pretty quickly, or if Max has the devil in him and just wants to vent some excess energy, I take him straight outside, and encourage him to go mental around the garden .... he really is amazing in this mode, he is sooo powerfull, but totally in tune, running FLAT OUT towards something and changing direction in the blink of an eye ... he can virtually clear a pub style picnic bench we have, and does like a wall of death on the fencing

Re: Fight !!!!
You are sooo brave to wrestle with your dog. Although Tyson regularly tries to get me to wrestle, he is just too strong for me and no ways do I want him knowing that. We do have a game of Tug O War every now and again during which I practice drop and leave commands. I dont allow agressive growling and we stop the game when I say. He tries toentice me into games daily by wiggling whatever he has at me and looking deeply into my eyes haha.

Re: Fight !!!!
Know what ya mean, but I wont let it get to a stage where he thinks "wow, I'm actually strong as an ox" ... cus as you said , they are! and mix that with a hint of dominance ... and you got trouble !!
On the other hand, I have always found it VERY important to have a wrestle, we both enjoy it immensely and I find they soon learn what is, and what definately ISNT allowed, and its only me that wrestles with him
I'm not saying its for everyone, but its always worked for us with our bullys

Re: Fight !!!!
Thank goodness Tyson has his wrestle mate at the park most days when we visit. Buckly is a 45kg Bull Mastiff snd they have been playing together since 4 months (they are the same age). It is fantastic to see them together and the communication between them. They take torns to be the 'dominant' one and there is never any aggression.
