Phantom pregnancy?
Could Lola be having a phantom pregnancy?
Her last four nipples look like cows udders but she isn't nesting or unwell or off her food.
I did think she was having a split season, she has been licking rather a lot, but no sign of any bleeding nor is her vulva swollen.
Also a few male dogs have tried to hump her but that was it and there owner retrived their dog and put it back on leash.
Surely a few seconds could not result in her becoming pregnant?

Re: Phantom pregnancy?
Awww poor lola!! .. i studied this so much at college haha and become to learn alot about it .. the progress and change will be the same as the normal pregnant conditions such as milk production process, doing all the nesting activity, playing with toys etc. These changes will begin about 3-4 weeks after the heat cycle begin. False pregnancy is unpredictable and the symptoms can show up in any female dogs whether they are mating or not, If your dog has a false prenancy before then there is a probability that she might have this symptoms again.

how far did the humping get to? did the other dog get in?

Thanks Kelly.
And Steve the other dog was literally on and off, without looking underneath I have no idea if she was penetrated. But it seems doubtful, but I couldn't be 100% sure.

Re: Phantom pregnancy?
Yes i think a visit to the vets may be in order. i would be heartbroken if she were pregnant as i did my best to prevent that happening. But i will say i was naive about a split season, I'd never heard of that before and just took it that she was ok for another 6 or so months and of course during that time I would be having her done.

If this becomes a problem, You could consider having her neutered, Maybe that will stop her from having phantom pregnancys ?! , If your not sure ring your vet up and ask for some advice! Not sure on the cost side , But some Pet Insurances cover Neutring to some or all degress, Not sure If you have pet Insurance ?!

No insurance cobers neutering unless it is a medical necessity.
Although this sounds like a phantom, I'd still get the vet involved, just in case she is pregnant.
