I don't know whether this is true or not, but I heard that dogs are more faithful to women, and bitches are more faithful to men. I'd be interested to know if anyone could confirm this.

Re: Male or Female ?
i got a male first and learned the hard way , learned alot and then got my dakota , tbh personally females are far easier to deal with imho , males are boisterous pups but just as loving and eager to please with a major cheeky streak thrown in for gd measure lol

Re: Male or Female ?
I've had both, and I'd always go for a male in the future. I prefer the challenge!
And yes, a male IS a challenge. They're stronger & more single minded & more likely to get you into trouble, but if you socialise & train then you shouldn'r have too much of a problem. If it's your first dog, though, it might be best to go for a female first & learn the ropes so to speak.

you know id beg to differ on the socializing your dog part , shady was well socialized and he still has his moments with other dogs at times

Just generalising. I know what you mean, Bandit was socialised as a pup & he hated most other dogs!!

shane wrote:if you intend to breed your dog someday, by all means buy a female.the female is smaller than the male and generally quieter and she has less tendency to roam in search of romance, a proper trained male can be a charming pet and has a certain difference in temperament that is appealing to many people. male versus female is a matter of personal choice, both make fine companions
Very well put.
