Give me one word or brief phrase to describe Staffies

I'm writing a piece for the Danaher newsletter on staffies. I want to say 'we asked a group of staffie owners to describe the breed, they said...'.
As briefly as possible (no more than 6 words), how would you describe staffies to someone who is unsure about them?
