whats goin on?

So while at pets at home the wee pdsa woman informed me how Diesel was overweight an Leroy was underweight - which i already knew.
so Diesels been getting smaller portions an as per advice ive been feeding Leroy enough for a 20kg dog that was 13days ago an neither dogs weight has changed...i know its not been long but it didnt take Diesel to put the weight on when she was housebound....
any ideas?

Really can be difficult. Have you increased the walking/exercise? Usually it takes time and my guess is you might have to wait a month or so to see a diff.

Not sure what you feed your doggies, or if this is the best way to go about things but the vets advised me to give ebony fatty food that wasn't the greatest quality as it was full of fillers just to put her a bit of weight on, she said mix it with pedigree tins too; she gained her weight pretty quickly then I changed her food to normal high quality and she looks great now in the kennels when dogs are underweight we just double their food up so 2 meals of 4 cups of food instead of 2 meals with 2 cups of food

Are you feeding Diesel the amount for her correct weight rather than her fatter self?

It does take a while to see a noticeable change.

For putting on weight go for similar sized portions of higher calorie foods, I always added a bit of pasta to my dogs when I've felt they needed a bit of weight on.

For lower calorie meals, I always add a bit of bulk to the meal by adding boiled mashed brocoli. Most dogs love it and it is virtually calorie free. Logan is on a fairly low calorie diet because apart from walks, he's relatively inactive.

Diesel's gettin more exercise than she was, longer walks plus loads of rough an tumble with Leroy indoors (to my neighbours dismay lol) but then this also means Leroy is gettin loads of exercise too...an by the way he acts i'd say its quite probable that in his last home he was just told to go an lie down quite a lot an didnt play very much, also his nails were really long like he hadnt seen much pavement!

oh an also (tmi but) Leroy could poop for scotland at the mo! He does at least 2 on every walk - 3 times a day. So i dunno if he's just poopin everythin out! mayb im givin him too much?

Both my dogs get fed raw Cody, Diesel get a variety of dif meats an bones an Leroy is just on chicken mince/wings at the mo.

So at the 2 week weigh in Diesel has lost 0.5kg an Leroys up 0.2kg :-) so there is more of a change than i first thought, started usin brocoli to bulk up diesel's food an added rice/pasta to Leroys so hopefully that'l help!
