Staffy shaped hole to fill!

Having lost Esta only on Monday, we are already hoping to re-home a blue staffy x boy from the kennels. Just hoping the home check goes ok. Anyone know what an RSPCA home check entails?

Can't be of much help. I would guess they look to make sure that you have space for a dog and see the living conditions the dog will have

So soon Hun I am so so so pleased to hear this, never replaced and never forgotten but there is just a huge void that needs filling

They will check the garden and security, road access, the general living conditions, and they can get a good feel for a good owner. Which you are!!

I wish the home check would hurry up so I can get him. The house is so empty without a staffy in it!

They want to know if the garden is secure, how long it will be left alone, what you do for work etc.

I had my first rescue staffy from them years ago and now go through NSBTR in cumbria as they are a really nice stafford rescue and their staff all back you up for the length of time you have one of the dogs from them, they even counsel you when they pass over rainbow brigde

It took me a year to get over my last dog and still think about him nearly everyday, but another dog takes your mind off it

As for the home check, im not entirely sure but im guessing it will probably be to make sure your garden is staffie-proof (covered up pond if you have one, no dangerous objects, no holes in the fence etc) and also to check inside the home to mkae sure it is big enough for your dog and that you will be able to proivde all thedog needs which im sure you will!! good luck!

If the RSPCA are anything like Woodgreen Animal Shelter where we rescued Rocky, the home check is to see that your garden is secure, that you have adequate space for the dog and how long he/she will be left alone. We were also asked why we chose Rocky, this wasn't really the case he chose us.

Please don't worry about it. Let them know that you have had a dog before, you should be fine. If the new dog is another Staffy at least they know you know what to expect, if that makes sense.
