Finding a toy that will last is very hard to do. Kongs seem to work well and you can fill them with treats and freeze them to help out when they are teething.

Wait till he has his adult teeth - the same tennis ball will last, if you're lucky, 15 seconds!
It is a bit of a shock when you first realise just how strong they are, even as pups!

Dempsey's Bull Terrier, though, and he doesn't have a brain. Everything gets shredded!

Re: Wow I'm shocked
yeh i was shocked the first time we gave lemmy a jumbone and the outer bit was gone in a bout 15 miniutes when he was about 10 weeks old. those little razer teeth can get through any thing. mind you keep lots of chews about while the teething is going on though you will have less damage around the place

Julie, yes it really has shocked me I had no idea he could get through stuff so quick just yet lol. And yes I sure will keep plenty of chews around for him especially now I know what to expect

Attari doesnt chew much, she has toys but she just carries them around and jumps on them to make squeek (hasnt figured out biting them makes them squeek too!). She also has teddy bears and they are all in one piece! She chews on her bed sometimes when shes about to go to bed but that seems more like shes using it as a dummy.

Re: Wow I'm shocked
My hubby and I laughed so much reading this. One crunch and Izzy's tennis ball is split in two. Kita just shreds them these days.

Re: Wow I'm shocked
Best toy I have found is an empty 2lt bottle, like coke bottle or something. Get through them faster than the dogs can so its free and they love um.
Obviously dont leave them unattended with them though unless you take the cap off, as they can chew them off and would be bad for choking on.
But they love um.
We get through loads of tennis balls too we just buy them in bulk now as they dont last long when playing fetch with them.
The solid rubber balls are quite good, but Molly wont play fetch with them so well. So we tend to just use the normal dog tennis balls and try to get her to give it up before wrecking it to much lol, they normally last a session or 2 if we can keep her playing, but soon as she stops and starts chewing thats it game over for the tennis ball.
Boomer balls are great for a different type of ball to play with aswell.

Re: Wow I'm shocked
The material "boomer balls" (we have staffy or enduro balls over here) are made of is very tough. Unfortunately for me, they weren't around when Kita was young (or I didn't know of them) and Izzy is just not interested in a bigger ball.
Why would she be when she can pinch "grandma's ball" run off with it and then poor old grandma (whose not quite up to what's going on) starts chasing her trying to get it back.....
I think they are a good thing to introduce when young and especially if you have somewhere they can push it around and it not run too far away for their attention span to stay focused on. Kita would probably have done well with one of these as she loved playing with a bigger ball when she was a pup, but the only ones I could find soon went flat once a tooth broke it's shiny surface.
