ear problem
think am going to have to get woody to the vets today. he has started shaking his head quite vigorously and trying to put his foot in his left ear and scratching it. put my fingers in for a check and he has loads of black gunk in there.no wonder hehas been a little off, but behaving himself amazingly well!!!

Re: ear problem
Ear infection easily cleared with a trip to the vets and drops for a week. Poor Woody it must be so irritating to them. Xx

Re: ear problem
our last dog a GSD was prone to this. we got drops from the vet and would use wet wipes to clean his ears. its harmless but annoys the dog

Re: ear problem
We give Rockys ears an occasional wipe with a damp cotton wool ball. Amazing how much stuff comes out with just a wipe once a week.

Re: ear problem
just got back, unfortunately for Woody and my bank account it appears to be less straightforward. the ear canal is that swollen she cant get through to the source of the infection and thinks its either eczema or a foreign body. steroid injection to reduce the swelling first and antibiotics then a swab off to the lab and a return visit on Monday. luckily im on pet plan so will be able to claim some back!!!

you can say that again! good thing is he is such a greedy guts he eats tablets straight out of my hand so the antibiotics will be no problem.
just hope i did a covered for life policy rather than a year or we wont be covered for eczema treatments in future years if thats what it turns out to be

Re: ear problem
wow poor Woody....wonder what it will be.. Lucky you took him to the vets so quickly....
When Jethro was about 5 he started yelping in pain when he scratched his ear..he ended up having an op and they pulled all these grass seeds out his ear canal! ( I still have them in a little bottle in his memory box..along with his puppy collar!! )
