bloody stool from raw feeding?
Boss started last night and this morning with bloody loose stools, I was wondering if it could be from eating raw from maybe the homes inthe chicken? He will be brought to the vets soon if it isn't better.

Re: bloody stool from raw feeding?
How loose, and how bloody? Sounds an odd question, but what do they smell like - is it a sort of metallic smell? Is he ok in himself, or is he a bit 'off'?
If the raw food has been fed as fresh as posible, then it probably isn't that, especially as he's been on raw for a while now, hasn't he?
I'd give his stomach a rest for 24 hours and then maybe give him some scrambled egg or some arrowroot to see if it helps firm him up. If he's ok in himself, I wouldn't worry too much as long as the runs don't get worse, or carry on for more than a day or so.

ok, and it is fairly runny but he just started passing alittle more firm ones, and the smell isnt anything to alarming, just the normal not lovely smell, he has been acting himself, running around etc. so it wasn't as frightening as it would if he wasn't himself. and he has been on raw for about 3 weeks now.

I'd not give him anything apart from water for 24 hours & then some scrambled egg or mashed potatoes. If that doesn't clear it up, a quick trip to his personal physician might be needed!

Found out today the cause of this was Purina Busy Bones, He got one the day he started to have a upset stomach and yesterday he got a hold of the rest he hadn't eatten and today has gotten unwell again. Definatly never buying one of those again. Hadn't thought of it being that the day of but it makes sense now.
