Turned a corner!
I know we have not had Bear very long but he seems to be settling in really well now. Last night he went to sleep very quickly and although he still woke me twice in the night he went straight back to sleep after. He is also seeming to enjoy being in his cage.
I put him in the cage and let him whine, once he is sleeping I open the door and leave it til he notices and comes out. Hopefully he is associating sleeping in a locked cage with surprise freedom afterwards LOL.
We had to take the legs off one of the couches as he discovered a small rip underneath which led to him removing the underside in a day. I wasn't overly happy TBH but small price to pay really.
8 times out of 10 he does his business in the correct location, I am hoping this will improve with time.

Re: Turned a corner!
He also seems to be chewing less, obviously he still has his silly half hours where he tears around like a nutter and mouths at everything but he is nibbling at fingers a lot less.
I am finding basic training a little hard though, not because Bear wont listen but because the kids keep getting involved. I know it is important for them to help but when I am working on the basic sit command and my son instantly starts saying "lay down, roll over, etc" it confuses the hell out of Bear LOL
I really want Bear to be a great family dog, I know it is not always easy raising staffs and I am prepared for him to be a chewer/little nuts but if he can manage 80% of the time to be decent then I will be happy (this is the best I can expect form the children too and they don't respond well to basic training LMAO)

Re: Turned a corner!
What you could do is to train when the kids are at school/nursery (sorry, I can't remember how old you said they were! ) so that he gets some one to one time.
Then, when the kids are at home you can ask them to repeat what you've done during the day.
