New to the forum- staffie health question...
hey y'all! Im new to the site. I've had my 7 month old staffie girl, Rae, for about 4 months now, and I noticed that she has been accumulating a significant amount of dark, reddish-brown wax in one ear, while the other ear stays perfectly clean. does she have an ear infection? she doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort, and she is not shaking her head (like dogs with ear yeast infections do). help??!
Does anyone know what could be going on? Thanks so much!

can you take a photo, it sound like something my xena used to get all the time when she was younger, the vets just gave us ears drops and clean it up in no time.

Welcome aboard! If she isn't shaking her head or in pain, I'm sure it's not something to worry about. I know that's easier said than done, though! We'll see with the pic!

My kaos gets ear infections all the time. When he has them u wouldnt know bar the dirty wax and the fact inside the ear in bright red. Even tho he is mainly black he has like white skin and light ears so u can actually see when its red. My Ty on the other hand is black brindle but has like a much darker skin and i cant tell if his ears are red or not inside. I no this doesnt make much sence haha but what im trying to say is i noticed your dog is black can u see if inside the ear is red?

Re: New to the forum- staffie health question...
Hiya and welcome!!
Ruby gets this all the time...is she walking around with her head tilted and keep scratching it???
My vet has said Rubys is a severe infection, but it keeps returning. I have been given medicated ear drops that I have to syringe in to her ear and a ear wash to use once a week. Since using them we have had no problems (touch wood). However I would advise you to get her checked out by a vet as it may not be the same as Ruby has had and if not then can be a number of things.
Hope she is ok, keep us updated
Love Carla, Ruby and Beau xx

Re: New to the forum- staffie health question...
I can't remember it was like 7 years ago she used to get it all the time.
Re: New to the forum- staffie health question...
Looks the same as Ruby gets.....you can get medicated ear drops from pet stores but to be on the safe side...I'd check with a vet to make sure X
Re: New to the forum- staffie health question...
Hello, welcome to the forum.
It's either mites or an ear infection. Either way I'd get it checked by teh vet - if you try to treat it yourself without knowing exactly what's wrong you'll end up with a deaf dog!
If it reoccurs you could always ask the vet for a prescription for the treatment & buy it online - it's often way cheaper that way.

Hi and welcome from us and Suki.
Looks like an infection to me. The vet should be able to help you get it cleared up. Sometimes they can have narrow ear canals and be prone to infections on occassion.

Re: New to the forum- staffie health question...
i would say deffo ear infection exactly what Kaos's ear gets like with the scratching. Ask for a ear wash when u go 2 the vets as well. Wash her ear out once a week to try to stop it re occuring x

Re: New to the forum- staffie health question...
Hi from me and my girls Kita & Izzy
Definitely looks like an infection to me due to all the redness. My younger girl Izzy always seems to have one dirty ear and one clean ear, but she never has any redness in either of them. I would def get the vet to check it out.
