They are fine as long as they are raw just keep your eye on him whilst eating

Raw & fresh is fine. Ribs will break into what look like sharp pieces, but the bones themselves are quite 'bendy' and don't normally give a problem.
You might want to supervise him for a while just to make sure he chews them properly & doesn't try to swallow large pieces. If he tries to, take it away & freeze it, then give it back frozen. He'll have to chew it properly then!

Fair enough. It's just a way of teaching them to chew, but if he chews ok anyway, then it doesn't matter!

Yuk! Dempsey did that, and I watched him - it was too late to do anything. He looked really plaeased with himself.
I was talking to a lady with a Border Terrier (I like those dogs, they've got a lot of courage!) & she said that there are 5 hunting insincts in the domestic dog.
1. Stalk
2. Chase
3. Catch
4. Kill
5. Eat
Very few breeds have all 5. The Border has them, and one or two other breeds, but in general the domestic dog has between 1 and 3 of them, rarely 4 or 5!
