training
we take our wee man to a training centre. the whole family take it turns to take him in each week so he learns that we are all in command. he learns obedience but we have moved onto flyball cos he was getting bored with just obedience (the hour session was too much for the same mundane things) he loves flyball. when he is a year old we will be doign agility. he is socialised and having fun while learning to do as he is told and be a good boy. he has fun and so do we. the soicalising bit is important because now we can go to the park and he plays nice with everyone and even knows how to greet and introduce himself with the right doggy etiquet. he did get told off a few times in the beginning because of his baby giddiness but he is a master at introduction with other dogs now. shame he still jumps at the humans but we are getting there.

Re: training
Well done, sounds like he's doing really well!
I tried agility with Dempsey, but he either ran through everything (why bother jumping when you can bulldoze?) or went to see the other dogs sitting around!

Re: training
caryll i love that sounds fun. we have a puppy version of agility at home with small jumps and cones to weave through and he is fine with them but the tunnel is too tempting cos its the right side to jump on and try hump it. oooopppppsssssss!!!! well he is a teenager in doggy terms after all and a boy to boot and needs must when the feeling take sover. its a pain trying to stop him humping everything in site

Re: training
Perhaps they should do a tunnel only variety, sort of like the jump competitions, for the little bulldozers out there..Caryll wrote:The only thing Dempsey does right is the tunnel!
Re: training
its great to see the dogs development over the time you have them. they take up a lot of time but are well worth it. my kids are grown up so my husband and i have plenty time to spend with lemmy and the kids at 21 and 23 love him to bits and spend lots of time with him too so he is always occupied and is getting good quick with all training and socialising aspects because he's never left alone.
