Feet Chewing
Hi Guys
We have just adopted a 4 - 5 year old bitch called Molly, we know she was badly treated for the first 6 months of her life, but she has been well cared for since, however she is constantly chewing her lower legs and feet, anyone with any ideas as to why she should do this.
She is allergic to wheat and dairy, she has irritable bowel syndrome and she is allergic to some types of grass, she craves constant attention, all in all a pretty sad speciman, but absolutely adorable and loves our 13 year old collie to bits

Re: Feet Chewing
Hi and welcome!
You say she has allergies - I'm assuming she's not getting these foods anymore? Does her feet seem sore? It might be a learned behavior from perhaps having had itchy feet from something she was allergic to over time? (Either in the first six months or until the previous owners figured out what the problem was.) What are you feeding her?

Hiya and welcome. Alot of staffs have a yeast build up in their feet whixh makes them lick and chew them. My boy does it. I just tell him to stop it when I catch him at it.

Re: Feet Chewing
Ane thanks, She is fed Hi life Nature's essentials meat pouches , low allergen wheat and gluton free with no artificial additives and Harringtons wheat and gluton free dried food.
She would not go anywhere near James Welbeloved food at all.
Hi Shontelle, that's what we are doing, she does it more when no is taking any notice of her, it may be just habitual as Ane says

Re: Feet Chewing
What the OP is referring too isn't as simple as just a learned behaviour or yeast build-up. My older stafford Skibadee has this, after much research and many vet trips we established she has .atopic dermatitis, we tried many different things but drew the line at steroids after a week. Currently I bathe her feet each day and give her .New Era homeopathic tablets. Hope this helps, Id write a longer reply but I've typed this out so many times in the last couple of weeks! Let me know if you have questions
