FLEAS!
Ok guys, charlie needs your help! We noticed that he was scratching alot, had a look, and yep, you guessed it, FLEAS. So I frontlined him, treated the house, but a few days later, he still had them, and by this time, there was alot.So I put some more frontline on him and retreated he house. That was about 3 days ago and he STILL has them! I cant believe how many of them there are! Its driving him mad and he's actually given himself a bald patch at the base of his tail cos he's been chewing at it so much. I'll take him to the vet if needs be but I thought someone here might have some tips. Charlie says please help, he's not a happy chappy!

Re: FLEAS!
Try advocate instead. I know a few that don't reccomend frontline, its not as strong so to speak, hence advocate is an over the counter treatment and not one you can buy in a shop. Hoover and clean the house as you've done (my mums cat got fleas weeks after she moved into a new place cause they live in the carpet), and give Charlie lots of soothing rubs from me Xx

Re: FLEAS!
I use frontline but have never really had a problem. Perhaps the vet can help out or at least recommend a flea bath. Hope you get things sorted for him soon.

From the vets, so I'm maybe thinking you will get charged for a visit anyway x

Re: FLEAS!
I dont mind, at least he'll be sorted. Roughly how much will it cost? I'll prob not take him though cos he might pass them on to other animals in there!

Re: FLEAS!
Last time it cost £66.99 for 3 pipettes which was 1 a month for a dog weighing 10kg-25kg, but from advice on here (suprise suprise) I haven't flead her in ages and haven't had a reason too. Not saying it will work but worth a call and a try Xx

Re: FLEAS!
Thanks hun. Not a clue. Probably when we were out walking. Its the first time he's had them. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if I can get him in.

Re: FLEAS!
I've used advocate before and it is really good, although would only treat him if he had fleas

Re: FLEAS!
The thing with fleas you have to treat the house vacuuming spraying tea tree oil is good to get rid of fleas add some to a spray bottle and do all fabrics and dogs with a bath and combing not drops every three days because the eggs do hatch so you kill the adult and three days later the eggs they laid hatch and you got more fleas so you have to kill the hatched ones before they lay a new bunch. treating the house and the dog, for a couple of weeks usually.
You could also try bathing him with dog shampoo that has tea tree oil init, or make your own, but make sure you do some research first because it cant be too stronge.

Re: FLEAS!
I give my dogs 1 odourless garlic tablet twice a week ( you can pick them up anywhere ) and Chloe who is 4 years old has NEVER needed flea treatment since her puppy pack..... I swear by them...
If you have a local Aldi you can get them for 99p, also Aldi do cod liver oil 99p for 90....

Re: FLEAS!
I pay about £22 for 3 pipettes 10 - 25 kgs, you wont be charged for a visit you can just pop in. We have had the same problem recently though, not with the staffords but with our JRT x. She has had flea baths, advocate and flea collars, house has been sprayed, bedding washed. Where we have hardwood flooring we thought they might be between the cracks. Not sure what else to recommend but dont let the vets rip you off! £66 is ridiculous they should have given you 3 boxes for that.
