Fleas!
Hi guys haven't been on in ages and been really busy!
Took tizzy to the vets today for a check up and to get nails cut, I also asked the vet to check over her coat as we've heard some problems from the rest of the littler having troubles with their fur.
Any how she's fine but she had a few fleas by her tail, not loads just a few so the vet gave her advocate which is fine.
But I'm due a baby next week and am really paranoid about fleas now in the house. I've washed both her beds and blankets but what's good to treat the house? What specifically needs treating? Just the carpets? We also have blankets on the sofa that she smuggles up on with me, should I wash these too?
What's best to use? A powder for the carpet? A spray? Basically what do you recommend for treating the house?
Also any recommendations for a flea comb? And how often shall I comb her.
Trying to nip the fleas in the bud now before they irritate her (she hasn't shown any signs of irritation etc) and before they become a problem.
Any advice appreciated, jade

Re: Fleas!
I'd spray a solution of tea tree oil on the carpets, and I'd wash her bedding & blankets with a little tea tree oil added to the final rinse. I'd be a little careful with flea sprays at the moment cause I don't know how good they'd be for the baby if you inhale some of it. Better safe than sorry!
I don't think you really need a flea comb as long as you're using advocate. However if you want to use one, just get a cheap nit comb from the chemist. One meant for humans is just as good (and probably cheaper) than one specifically for dogs!
Good luck with the baby!

Wash and clean everything. Maybe a chore but its not so much the fleas its the eggs they lay that remain in the carpet/blankets etc.
Never had to myself and the vet can reccomend a cleaner. and one that is safe for you. Xx
