greedy milly
Hi everyone
Milly will be 14 weeks old this friday. We have had milly since she was 6 weeks old when she came to us we weighed her and she was 4 pounds we have recently weighed her and she is now 13 pounds.
She has got a realy big appetite and will eat anything when she came to us we gave her ready brek on a morning made with lactol, lunch time we gave her dry food and at tea time we gave her wet food.
We stopped giving her the lactol at 8 weeks old as advised by our vet. We are still feeding her the same diet now but making the ready brek with cows milk morning dry food at dinner and wet food in the evening she eats twice the amount of our other 2 dogs and she never seems to be full up she sits under the table whatching us eat are meals crying for it.
She was wormed with worm paste off the vet at her 8 week vaccine. She is that greedy she tries to snatch food from my other dogs mouths. Ive been told by a friend who has 2 staffys that they are greedy for the first year because thats when they are doing the growing do you think this is the case and is it normal.
Obviously the breed is a stocky solid breed but our vet told me they can become fat if your not careful and over feed them and should be 15-20kg when she is 6 months.
As Milly is our first Staffy we dont want her to become a little barrel she need to keep up with my other dogs who will both run all day even our old 14 year old mixed breed will run till he drops then get up and run again

Re: greedy milly
hey and welcome she sounds like a lil bundle of joy! .. you say you are feeding her with cows milk?, id stay away from cow's milk its not good for them try soya or goats milk as it dont have any things added etc
Id nip the crying under the table for food in the bud if i was you lol, put her in her crate if she has one or in another room etc as she'll get to begging etc.
have you posted any pikis yet?? would love to see her!

She sounds to be developing just great! I think they all are greedy pigs, at any age. You'll find that the amount to feed is more to the dog rather than amounts if that makes sense. Moo is 19.something kg now.
Any pics of Milly

Re: greedy milly
I wouldn't give her cows milk either. Goats milk is better. I'd nip the begging under table in the bud, as well - you could be in for all sorts of trouble later on otherwise!
I think as long as your pup is healthy, happy & lively I wouldn't worry too much about her weight. As long as you can feel her ribs but not see them & she's bright eyed, I wouldn't worry.

Re: greedy milly
we had the same with billy when we took him to the vets he said he is putting weight on too quick and could damage his joints, then all of a sudden he has stopped putting on weight and has been stable for a good few months. I think it is just a growth spurt
