Do supplements work?
I've got a seven year old rescue staffy who is a bit slow and stiff. The centre reckon she probably had a tough life before being rescued and everyone says she looks a bit old. My question is do any of the supplements you see in the shops that are supposed to help with joints actually do any good and, if so, are there any recommended ones? They seem quite pricey so I wouldn't want to waste my money.

Re: Do supplements work?
Hello and welcome.
So from my experience, yes supplements can work but as with alot of things, it depends on the individual.
I can highly recommend Yumove joint supplements but very pricey and difficult to get hold of if not in the UK.
My vets also highly recommend Flexadin Advanced but that’s more a case on one month on, a couple months break.
At the moment, I have found a great and affordable green lipped mussel supplement by Natureflow Pets on amazon.de
I have used Cosequin but not seen much change in my 2 (adult) girls, even though it does rate highly.

Re: Do supplements work?
Do let us know how you get on.
Unless I’m mistaken, you double the dose at first so you might need to be patient a few weeks before seeing a big difference.
When Opium had pulled a tendon, she had Yumove in the evening meal and a Flexadin in morning feed. I did see a big difference when I fed both but my orthopedic vet did confirm that this shouldn’t need to be fed permanently (unless I really did have money to spend )
Oh, yumove are gobbled down even without food but I found I had to grind the flexadin and mix it with a bit of feed as it does smell strong - be warned !
