Very anxious dog
My 3 yr old female staffy is refusing to go out for a walk. She has always been wary of anything that bangs like shotguns and fireworks but since this years bonfire night she has got so bad I can’t take her out. I’ve tried taking her out in the car because that’s the only place she will go to but she refuses to get out of the car and if she does, she won’t move. We used to walk for miles every day and if she heard a bang she would run but always wait for me to catch up. I’ve tried various calming products but no change. Any ideas anyone?

Re: Very anxious dog
I sympathise, my boy won't go out either and it's an on going problem. Occasionally he'll feel brave and we may go out for a week or two, but then the fear takes over again. His is a fear of loud noises too, yet he will go out by car and then enjoy a nice walk. It's very difficult.

Re: Very anxious dog
late reply .. but for what it's worth,
"VetIQ Serene-Um Calming Tablets For Dogs"
has worked well for mine.
fireworks 'n other loud noises being the issue.
and .. despite it being quiet recently ..
Lady, on occasion, has been reluctant to go outside at night. I'm thinking foxes have been about 'n she can smell them.
