My Staffie has become very anxious on walks and I don't know why?
Hi everyone,
Can any body help?
My three year old Blue Staffie male has become very anxious on his regular walk.
I live rurally and he has always loved going for his walk, about two weeks ago he started jumping up at me whilst on the lead, at certain parts of the walk he has always gone off the lead, he has started just standing when off rather go and run and explore like he normally does, when this started he ran all the way home on his own! (thankfully not over any roads).
We do have a new puppy (not a Staffie) which we've had for 5/6 weeks, even when I try and take them both out Cassius (the Staffie) acts the same.
Does anyone have any advice?

Sounds like he may need a bit more interaction with you while on your walks, do you play games while you are out - throw a ball or have a chase about etc. He may be feeling a bit left out because of the puppy and is wanting more attention from you.
I would not advize taking them out together yet as they will require different amounts of exercise. The new puppy will not need a much walking as the older dog and you may cause damage to the joints if over walked at a young age.

this is going to sound stupid but does he do it when there is certain weather cause my girl cant be let off in the rain because she will just run straight back to where she come from, also maybe he is worried about his house because of the new pup he may think that the pup is getting something he is not etc and when they are both walking if he goes home he has got space without the pup, did it start to happen after you got the new pup?

It may be when he is on his own with you, away from pup he is wanting your full attention. As Kathy has mentioned try some exciting games with him with a ball or favourite toy.
He may just be feeling a little left out
