Hello and help too please
Hi
We rehomed a male Staffy 4 months ago and he is now 12 months old. Our youngest child is 3 and yesterday the dog and kids were playing in the garden when the dog knocked over the 3 year old (an accident I think) but then dragged her across the garden by her coat .
I’m really worried that he would have hurt her if I hadn’t got to him so quickly. Do we have to look at rehoming him away from small children? Any advice would be appreciated

Re: Hello and help too please
Hi from me & Katy Welcome to our forum. I would be surprised if he actually wanted to hurt your daughter as they generally love kids & want to protect them. It's possible that play got overexciting & he got a bit rough. Mine thinks if you lay on the floor with her its play time!
Just supervise them & with any dog never leave them alone together.

Hi & welcome.
It sounds as though the play got a little out of hand, to be honest. At 12 months, your stafford is still very much a puppy & can be prone to over excitement!
I would supervise all play, especially with your children, and step in if it becomes a bit too lively.
Was your pup a private rescue? Do you know his history?

Hello and welcome.
Echo what has already been said above.
Sounds like child play which got out of hand.
Please do supervise children with dogs, whatever their age.

I'm Stephanie and I'm new to the forum. Previously I've always had rescue staffys but next week I pick up my first ever staffy puppy.
I'll post a photo when I get her, hopefully I'll have come up with a name for her by then aswell!
