Hi All,

Great forum. Interested to hear opinions (any) around what experience you have with your Staffy and you car.
My little fella is 8 months / 15kg. We have a Mercedes GLA which is a great car but a little high.

Interested from members to know what they use and how their dogs enter/exit/climb in out etc.

Cheers

IR

Hello & welcome to the forum.

At 8 months I'd recommend helping him down (you don't want to put too much strain on growing muscles/tendons/bones etc), although jumping in shouldn't be too much of a problem.

From about 15-18 months old, he should be able to jump down on his own.

The more important thing is to make sure you have a good quality seat belt attachment for him, and a harness to clip it to!

Hello and welcome.
15kgs at 8 months old, your boy sounds like a very big boy !

Definitely agree with gilly in that he shouldn’t be jumping (to protect his joints) until he’s older.
Several people I know have small utility vehicles, (like Peugeot Rifter) and the dogs jump into the back.
I personally have a pick-up and my girls travel on the back seat. They stand with their front paws on the side steps and I lift them in/out.

I believe your vehicle should suit your needs and in most cases, you can adapt to suit your canine passengers too.
