Recall exercises
Does anyone have any good recall activities that are fun?
Luna tends to decide herself if she wants to come over when she’s called and very often will just stand in the door and look at you kind of as if to say “well do you have anything for me or am I wasting my time“ she’s very intelligent which is a problem in that way as she doesn’t want to just blindly follow my command. Of course I can raise my tone and say it more seriously and she’ll do it then but I’d obviously prefer if she just wanted to do what I ask her to.
So that’s my main question really, does anyone have any games or exercises that I can do with her to make her want to do what I say more without having to be bribed by a treat or given out to.

Re: Recall exercises
I have a similar problem.
Opium can do certain exercises very well at home but at canine school, she just ignores me. Trainer has experience in bully breeds so she knows they’re highly intelligent and just taking the p***.
Have a look at the last discussions in this thread

I’m going to see if I can beat the squirrel in order to get rid of the frustration

Re: Recall exercises
You've got to make yourself much more fun than anything around Luna, jump around like a loon if need be & have a nice tasty morsel as her reward for disengaging!
If you are confused about the squirrel comment from Nifty, i have shown her Absolute dogs.com which I'm a member of does online dog training. One of the courses it sexier than a squirrel, which means you make yourself more fun than the surroundings! Have a look & see what you think. They train with games & food
They also do a calmness section which may help you with Luna's arousal issues

Re: Recall exercises
Great I’ll have a look at those, never heard of them before !!
Thing about me jumping around like a loony is that you can’t jump around Luna if you dare to she will get suuuper excited and start jumping up at you as high as she can and nip your clothes in excitement. So we are a strictly no jumping house

Re: Recall exercises
Opium has also been crossed with a kangaroo somewhere along the lines
I ordered a book by Victoria Stilwell yesterday, I’ll let you know if there’s anything in there that could help you.

They are based in Devon, very helpful to me & Katy
I agree with no jumping in the house but when you are out & want a good recall it might help
Have a look & see what you think
