New Yorkshireman !!
Hi Everyone
I'm new to the forum :-) I'm on the verge of picking up my first Staffordshire and I'll no doubt be asking for advice from time to time.
(SOLVED) My first question is not dog related, I want to add a picture of my little soldier as my Avatar but the web site it telling me that .jpg and .png files are not allowed. Which format do I need to save them in so that I can add them as my Avatar?
Thanks in advance
:-)

Thanks for the reply :-)
As for his name, he's from a local rescue centre and they have given him the name of Joseph.
It's kinda feeling right for him but we think it'll be 'Joe' in the end hehe

Hello and welcome.
Can’t wait to hear more about Joe.
Regarding your avatar photo, I presume you’re trying to add it via your Profile page, Avatar tab ? I believe mine is .jpeg format but you must respect the size/resolution instructions

Re: New Yorkshireman !!
I just managed to sort the Avatar, I'd saved it as a .png and it wouldn't accept it.
I hope everything works out for Joe and his new family :-)

Re: New Yorkshireman !!
@ Jenc, thanks for the information !! That'll help a great deal. I'm an Admin for a forum myself so I really appreciate the hard work you have to put in hehe.
@ Nifty Staffy, I'm afraid I don't know much at this moment in time save for the fact that he and his brother were both taken into the rescue centre as strays about a week ago and they are about 1 year old. He's had his first set of injections and has been wormed so I now have to wait for him to have his second set of injections, chipping, castration and a home visit by the rescue centre owner before I can bring him home to be properly loved and adored. I mean, look at his face, he's adorable. I took him for a walk with the wife yesterday and I'm going back today to walk him alone for an hour or so, I'll stop somewhere with him and have a chat about life and which type of toy's he'd like me to buy him. I'll probably have a sandwich in my pocket so an impromptu lunch may be on the cards. The rescue centre gave me a few snacks for him yesterday so I should be able to beg a few more off them for him. The rescue centre is opposite a big area of walk-able countryside so the centre use the area for exercising the dogs, he already knows the area so he'll be at ease. Fingers crossed he'll be with us in two weeks or so which will give me plenty of time to buy his collar, lead, toys and food. I'm also speaking with my neighbour today, seeking advice about how to knock out the dead space under my stairs, I'm going to make it into Joseph's little dog house, complete with his bed, rubber flooring and a few home comforts like a picture of the countryside on his wall hehe.
I just hope he doesn't stink the place out with the 'Staffie Wind Issue' !!
P.S. I tried to post some pictures of him but as a new member I have to wait 7 days, which is understandable ;-)

Re: New Yorkshireman !!
He is certainly a handsome boy & will land on his paws getting his forever home with you! I'm sure after you had a chat with him he will tell you what toys he would like & what he would like for his dinner Might be a waste of time knocking out under the stairs as he will probably take over your bed

Re: New Yorkshireman !!
Well, here's my little update. I visited Joseph for an hour or so yesterday and took him for a walk for the better part of the hour. He was most certainly on his best behaviour I think. Now bearing in mind that he's only one year old he didn't pull on the lead, didn't bark and walked to heel all the way. I let him off the half training leash and let him have the full length of the leash and all he did was trot off to the end of the leash length, no pulling and no fuss. Every six or seven yards he'd stop and look back to make sure I was still there so I pulled him in and gave him some reassurance with a cuddle and a head rub, mixed in with a good old ear rub. On several occasions we stopped for a chat and I took some pictures and video's of him so I could show the wife when I got back home. He only actually pulled twice and both were initiated by him seeing another dog being walked from the same rescue centre. He got a little bit giddy and pulled towards the other dog and all he did was say hello with a barrage of licking and fussy tail wagging. When we got back to the kennel after about an hour the staff had left out a towel for me to wipe him down as it was raining and very muddy on the walk, I can't believe how much fun we had back at the kennel, I was throwing the towel over him and giving him tickles and a good old wrestle and he loved it, we were playing the dog equivalent of 'Hidey Boo' that I used to play with my daughter hehe. He kept shuffling off to the other side of the kennel then he just came back for more towel rubs and 'Hidey Boo'. Oh and just so you know, I'm nearly 50 years old and he made me feel like a kid again hehe. We are going back again today so the wife can walk him and I've already spoken to the lady that runs the rescue service for him and it's pretty much a done deal. He still needs him injections and castration so it will be a few weeks yet until he can come to his new home. I have to add that the lady I'm dealing with is amazing, she's talked me through the entire process and is even supplying a brand new harness for him and a Halti leash. I'll pass on her details as soon as I have everything squared away. We can't wait to have him with us.
That's all for now. TTFN.
