Vacations
Hello, I’m Daniela and my staffy is Alfie we live in Norway but I’m from Portugal, so I planned to go for Christmas home (I bought the tickets and so on a while ago) but now I got Alfie 2 weeks ago he is only two months and I can’t take him with me in the plain because for sure he will be over 8 kg then. The good thing is that I have a friend who can keep and take a good care of the dog, but I’m really afraid about what the dog will feel without me for two weeks. I would like to hear from you if you had a similar experience that you could share with me, if the dog experienced anxiety or something, or if everything just went well
Thanks

Re: Vacations
Hi Daniel & welcome to the forum.
If you trust the person you will leave him with, then I think that's the best option.
Plan to introduce them very soon & maybe have a couple of 'sleep overs' at your friend's place, just for a night or two (Alfie, not you!) and see how they bond.
If you approach it properly and with care, there shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Vacations
Hi from me & Katy, Alfie is gorgeous If your friend is happy to have him he will be fine. Maybe a bit confused for a couple of days, but as Gilly suggested take him round a lot before you leave for the holiday & he will be fine

Re: Vacations
Sounds like you are doing the right thing, let him spend a lot of time with your friend & family& he will settle fine! Staffies don't understand why people would walk past without saying hello!!
