Proud parents to Ozzy
Hi all.
Im so happy I've found this place. So many wonderful people appreciating such a fantastic breed. We've just adopted our first our first dog together, a beautiful little Staffy called Ozzy. We rescued him a few days ago and he is the most docile, loving dog I have ever experienced!
Unfortunately he is rather underweight as he came to the centre after being abandoned. If anyone has any advice on what's best to help him gain some much needed weight in as healthy a way as possible it would be so appreciated.
In the meantime its lovely to meet you all and your wonderful dogs.

Hi and welcome from me and mine
Well done on your rescue! Poor little chap, I can never understand how someone can just abandon a dog .
Did the rescue centre not advise on feeding? If so, I'd just follow their guidelines, then keep an eye on his weight to make sure he is putting it on. Vets generally don't mind people going in to weight their dogs, and that's also good to get them used to going there without anything happening.
Otherwise, I'd say pick the best quality food for your budget and just feed over the guidelines, again checking from time to time where he's at. And don't forget to scale back when he reaches a good weight, it's easy to let dogs get overweight and that's not good either!

Welcome from Misty and I. It's so lovely to hear about a rescue. When we got Misty she was underweight too, we have gone through several brands with her but she is currently on Orijen and has sardines for breakfast. I agree with Liz start with whatever the rescue center has said.
Cant wait to hear more of your new addition and see pics x
