Meet Bella
Hi Everyone.
I have come to this forum a lot recently for help and advice, and decided to make an account to introduce Bella
She's 10 weeks and loves attention and absolutely HATES baths.
This was just a quick post to show off Bella, but I'm sure I will be posting here in the future, Thanks

Hello and welcome !
Thanks for introducing Bella, she’s gorgeous !
Looking forwards to hearing more about your adventures together.
As for the bathing, I’ve never bathed my staffy so maybe she’s letting you know that you don’t need to ?

Oh really have you not? Is there any particular reason for that? We took Bella to a puppy play class and Bella slipped and slid all over another puppies 'accident' so wanted to bath her

Re: Meet Bella
Welcome from Misty and I. Bella is a little cutie isn't she. I don't bathe Misty either, we got her and she had very bad dandruff so just used some foam shampoo that didn't need water. I can imagine if she slipped in another dogs mess though she would have a shower or in her case more likely a hose. Can't wait to hear more about Bella as she grows!

Ah yes, that’s a very good reason that Nifty has always managed to spare me
I don’t wash her because she doesn’t need it

Re: Meet Bella
Hi and welcome from me and mine
I don't bathe mine either. Dogs generally don't naturally like being bathed, even those who love swimming, and mostly you have to teach them. A simple way round if you do have something revolting to remove is to use a sponge. Start off with the sponge dry, just stroking her with it. Then make it just damp enough for her to feel it, then wetter as she gets used to it. Make sure the water is warm and comfortable. Try not to hold her tight but instead make it something pleasureable that she wants to stay with.
Especially with puppies, it can be helpful to teach in advance of needing something and to work in very small sessions, just a few minutes, and never have a fight over it.
You can teach her all sorts of things this way, things like having claws clipped, teeth examined, or ears sponged, that can otherwise end up unpleasant for them. Start with stroking, gently holding, for very short spells and then build up.

Re: Meet Bella
nice looking pup. staffies hardly need bathing. remember the dogs fur and skin has natural oils and washing too often will wash out these natural oils. i know people who have staffies and wash them semi regular and their fur and skin are terrible. really dull and coarse and also attracts dirt as they don't have the natural oils to repel the dirt.
she doesnt really need washing. our 5 year old has probably been washed 3-4-5 times in his life. he hates it too.

Re: Meet Bella
I must admit, I agree. Unless they get really stinky (ie rolling in fox poo!) let them be!
I've only ever bathed my dogs about twice a year, and never before about 5 or 6 months old. I love the smell of puppies - I know, I'm weird!

Re: Meet Bella
We've only bathed Dodger twice in over 4 years. He hated it and as he stays so clean we don't feel the need. If he does roll in something nasty I clean him with dog cleaning cloths then wipe off with plain water, but on hot days he does get the occasional hosing down.

Hi & Welcome to the forum from Flo and me
Bella looks fab, and I have to agree with the others that washing only needs doing if really muddy or in case of stinky accidents

She's lovely. Personally I wouldn't bath a Staffy, it takes the oils out of their coat. My boy's never had a bath and never wiped his arse, yet he smells sweet like aftershave.
