Dogs personality changed!:(
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help me? My staffy leia is now 7 months old and recently her behaviour has completely changed. She doesn’t seem to want any kind of affection and has become quite stubborn, she almost looks sad sometimes and doesn’t really want to be near any of us. Now we have removed her from being on the sofa and beds recently. She is in her first season at the minute but the behaviour started maybe 2 weeks before that. I know it seems like there is a lot going on which could confuse her but this has all been introduced slowly and the behaviour has been worse recently. I would be very grateful for any knowledge you could share thanks!

I’m no specialist so what I am going to suggest needs confirmation but I think it is related to her season. I have read that there can be mood changes.

Hi, I would also put this down to her first season. I’m sure things will settle back down.

I would work on the assumption that it's her season but if she continues to act in a way that you feel isn't her after her season's well finished, maybe pop her to the vet to make sure that there's nothing else amiss. Discomfort can cause dogs to act differently to their normal personalities.

Check her over carefully, if you can, manipulating her joints & stroking her firmly but gently, and watch for any signs of distress. Staffords are notorious for not showing fairly high levels of pain.
If all seems well & she's eating and drinking normally, I would say it's probably her season. As Liz says, if it continues for over a week after her season's finished, or if she seems in discomfort or lethargic, then pop her to the vets.

As per the responses above, this would indicate it is down to her first season https://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/how-bitches-behave-when-in-heat.html
