Staffy enthusiasm
It’s nice to feel loved but often, both OH and myself find Nifty over enthusiastic to see us.
She’ll bomb around at high speed and launch herself at us, for a better way of describing it. Only 12.5kgs thrown at you full pelt can send you flying. She also becomes crazed if she can reach your head in any way, trying to lick you to death but getting very intrusive in doing so.
I try to restrain her, the time my OH changes position - this can simply be no longer slouching in the sofa
I’ve also noticed that she’ll try to be very close to me, preferable touching me, as much as she can. She’ll be unsettled in her play pen, with me sitting on the sofa within arm’s reach of the pen, but will happily play with her toys if I’m sitting in the pen.
I suppose this is the very human dependant side of staffies but should I draw the line now to prevent future problems ?

Re: Staffy enthusiasm
They are very human orientated, my Flo will get as close as possible and settle in for the duration. In your case, especially with the pen issue you might want to curb the neediness as this could lead to separation anxiety. Better to stop that starting than trying to remedy later on.

Re: Staffy enthusiasm
Hmmm see what you mean.
In puppy classes, Nifty will often pass between people’s legs and when she sits at my feet, she’ll often put one paw on my foot. My instructor did say that some behaviours are due to lack of confidence and others have other meanings, but we did not have the opportunity to go further in the discussion.
I guess this is what being owned by a staffy means
