Old, not teeth, IBS and skinny
My old Lexi is now 13. she struggles to eat most dog food/meat things due to IBS. She eats mainly rice and chicken but in the morning will get a cup of harringtons (duck and rice) moistened and some rice and chicken mixed in. Shes not finishing her meals lately, which is fine we don't force her and offer her it again a bit later and shell usually eat it. If she gets too much of the harringtons she will vomit, explosive poo and be very bloated so we have to be very strict on it. We try to get it into her a bit just for the calories and what not, cause theres not much in chicken and rice im assuming!
But shes getting a bit bony and has a tiny waist. You can't actually see the bones, but feel them and shes not got much muscle..but then im used to her being built like a brick house.
I was thinking maybe some wainwrights trays but im just worried about introducing another new food...shes tried wainwrights dry before and she would be sick on it after many years doing well on it. She won't eat just kibble, it has to have some chicken or wet in it. Shes also got few actual teeth left so has to be soft.
What do others feed their old food intolerant fussy dogs with no teeth?!

have you thought about NatureDiet? they do a sensitive one which is salmon & (I think) rice with species specific bone added. no grains etc. reasonable price as well.

Awkward as you know she's intolerant to so much. Wainwrights is fairly good quality so maybe try her on a little and see how she goes Hayley.

Perhaps be best with a wet diet or a bit of boiled water on dry food . Maybe ask your vet dependant on your dogs dietry requirements to recommend a decent food but make sure you read the reviews before purchading any dog food. Bit of a hit and miss tbh with dog food most places can offer samples if you request it.

Re: Old, not teeth, IBS and skinny
Been following some advice here and so far her tummy is good, but now shes drinking more (due to the dog food i assume) she is peeing more. Found two pees today and can't decide which dog did it, but im thinking about taking Lexi to the vet to get her bloods checked for any diabetes or cushings as mum mentioned she thought she was drinking a lot even before the food was changed a bit. She has it all wet mush basically so getting what i would assume is quite a lot of water anyway. My only thought is there might be a lot of salt in the dog foods..
She still gets her chicken and rice most days, and now were giving some tuna too which might not help the salt content lol
