Pup With Sores Around Mouth
Hi everyone.
Hades is still all good, and full of energy (which is frustrating at times )
A bit of a concern... I noticed a few weeks back that he had a sore just under his bottom lip, and it got slightly bigger each day. Eventually it got to a point where it stopped growing, and started to dry up. Then I noticed a few more around his mouth.
I took him to the vet, and the vet scraped a bit of it off, to test for Mite. He found nothing, and said it could just be a young pup form of acne
A week later I too him back and the vet said it seems to be drying up and it is nothing to be concerned with.
I'm not sure whether its in my head or if the sores are getting bigger (my SO says they seem to be drying up according to her).
Any idea what could be causing these types of sores?
Regards
Kimeran

I would say it isn't normal as such, but if the vet says there's nothing to worry about...
However, maybe it would help you to get a second opinion?

A dog I used to have sometimes had sores round his mouth. His were allergy related. It might be worth looking into if they persist.
For the moment I'd go with your vet's view unless they aren't healing or are getting worse. If you're concerned they are still getting bigger, photograph them so you've got a comparison point.

A picture of them would be very helpful to me. I remember when Lexi was a pup she would have sore type things that would then try into a crust and disappear. Vet put it down to a stress thing, that she was licking certain spots on her self/rubbing when she was stressed out so a few life changes and she never got them again.

Re: Pup With Sores Around Mouth
Hello everyone.
A bit of an update for anyone interested...
I took Hades to a second vet as I felt like the sores were getting worse.
The vet had a look and said he is perfectly healthy, and the sores are simply puppy acne. However, they got worse through a slight bacterial infection.
She gave me some tablets to give to him, and he is all good now!
