Hello From Hero, Avery and Heather
Hello everyone! I am new to the forum but not at all new to the dealings of the wonderful creatures known as Staffordshire terriers.
Please allow me to introduce to you, my very loved and increasingly spoiled fur babies. Firstly, I'd like you all to meet Hero. I found my Hero while I was browsing "free to good home" ads. At random times I look at these kinds of ads to find animals that have obviously been abused or neglected, and then I do everything in my power to rescue them. When I saw Heros' ad I immediately knew that I had to save him. The picture they used showed a dog that was sunburned so bad that his hair was falling out in spots all over his body. In addition to being sunburned, Hero was extremely malnourished and had a very severe worm and flea infestation. The ad listed Hero as free to good home, but as he was in an area 3 hours from me, I couldn't travel to get him at the time so I contacted the people and offered them 100.00 if only they would bring him to me. They agreed. Upon arriving at my home, the people then told me that Hero had been left on their doorstep as a pup. They kept him for a year until they decided that they no longer wanted him (they had gotten a new puppy). From the moment Hero sat in my lap with his head on my shoulder, I knew I would love him forever. Hero is 3 years old now, I've been lucky enough to be his human for 2 glorious years and would not change even a second of it. Hero loves to cuddle with me on the couch and absolutely loves playing with his 5 human children (my children). He is now thriving and happy which is all I wanted for him seeing as how he was close to being sent to a "kill shelter". Hero is an all white Staffie with blue eyeliner circling his right eye.
Next, meet Avery. - Avery is an 8 month old black and white Staffie. Her story isn't as sad as Hero. My husband found Avery on Craigslist. She was being sold for 100.00 because her coloring wasn't "special". Her father was a blue and her mother was a tri-color. But because Avery didn't show signs of having any special color or markings she wasn't as valuable as her litter mates. So, my husband contacted the people and made arrangements for us to pick her up. All the way home, Avery rode on my lap with her head on my shoulder. From that day on, she has been attached to me in a pretty fierce way. I learned early on that Avery does not like to be separated from me. If I leave her only for a moment, she will find something that belongs to me and she will chew it up. Needless to say, she goes with me everywhere, even when she shouldn't.
So, there you have it. Me and my furbabies.

Hi & Welcome to the Forum from Flo and me
Well done on both your rescues, it's hard to understand how people can be so uncaring but thankfully there are those that will gladly take in a loyal loving Staffy
