vet on radio talks staffys
Every Tuesday afternoon on a radio station here ( 6PR ) they have a vet and you can phone up for advice. A bloke phoned up and asked him about getting a staffy puppy for the family. The vet said staffys were wonderful dogs.. and they would repay you with so much love and laughter. He said said they can suffer alot with their elbows and joints later in life as they are such active dogs, and it is best not to let them leap around too much when they are younger. The vet said he actually has an old staffy at home, so he gave them a glowing report !

Any positive press is always welcome. It is hard to feep them from jumping when the are young. I will probally start Suki on joint supplements at a younger age.

Re: vet on radio talks staffys
I was listening to him again today.. a few people phoned up and their dogs were very nervous and he was talking about snug and tight coats they can wear that make them feel more secure ( obviously thundershirts, but he didn't mention them by name ) And staffys got another mention as one of the types of dogs more likely to suffer from seperation anxiety because they crave human company so much !!

Re: vet on radio talks staffys
yeah over here in Australia the majority of people like staffys and they certainly don't get as bad a wrap as they do in England. Mind you every dog attack mentioned on the news is always a staffy type or a staffy cross !!

I would definitely agree Vanessa. Most people seem to love Staffys here in Aus. They certainly don't seem to get all the bad press that they do in th UK

That's what always peeves me off, "Another child/grandmother/dog attacked by a staffy" as so often seen in the media. Grrhhhhhhh!!!
I think it depends on where you live in Oz as well, the further north I went in Qld the more the attitude changed and breeding staffs for other reasons became more apparent and it did my head in.

He is on for half an hour every week and people phone up with questions about their pets. Sometimes I forget it is on, but for anyone in Perth, Western Australia it is on 6PR on Tuesday afternoons at 2pm.
