Re: Just leaving for vet
Well hubby's settled her in, think they give her some sort of relaxant to calm her..
She's such a big baby, I really hate the thought of her locked in a crate in a strange place

Re: Just leaving for vet
Are you insured? If you are, the insurance will at least cover some of it because of the infection. It's also possible that, if you say the spaying was due to the infection, the insurance may cover all of it.

Re: Just leaving for vet
Insurance ( john lewis ) will not pay as it's classed as spaying... They will not pay for complications derived from the spay...
They will pay for the antibiotics and pain relief related to the infection, but not the spay.... She got antibiotics and pain relief on Tuesday for the infection which cost 78 pounds, but the access is 75 pound so not worth claiming..
Here spay is more today because of her infection, apparently it's 90 pounds for each extra half hour in theatre....
But you know what guys if it was 3 thousand pounds we would pay, and if she's okay at the end...... She's worth every penny

Re: Just leaving for vet
I was just wondering if you could say that she was being spayed because of the infection?
My insurance won't pay for neutering unless it's considered a medical necessity.

Re: Just leaving for vet
No they won't pay, it is in the policy document, guess it don't help that we had a spay booked for the 19th anyway..... So we'd feel guilty claiming....

Shame.
I wouldn't feel guilty, that's what you're paying your premiums for!

Re: Just leaving for vet
Just rang vet for an update, sat in tears cos i'm so proud of my baby girl....
Said she's been an total gem and great with them, she keeps looking for strokes and fuss even though she's sedated.... I knew she would
She's going to theatre in ten mins so they will ring straight after surgery, within the next 90 mins ...... Bless her

Awww...thinking of you and your girl. They usually bounce back quite quick. She'll be back to her normal self before you know it, but it does'nt stop us from worrying and fretting
Hugs to you both (only gently for Chloe)

Re: Just leaving for vet
Okay guys she's home very sleepy.. Managed to get her to eat a tiny bit of chicken, but she's refusing water.... She is still on antibiotics and some painkiller to be given once a day.. bless her she's lying next to me crying just a little, makes you feel bloody helpless. The hardest bit is keeping Blake away and occupied

Settled them both for the night now, Chloe's on my bed sleeping like a baby.. managed to get her to drink a little goats milk... And a couple of sips of water. She has had a little bit more chicken and rice. Blake asleep in his crate, and confused by everything going on.. Hopefully things will get normal tomorrow

Re: Just leaving for vet
She slept right through the night and is still in bed!! She isn't eating nor drinking, it's becoming a worry now. It's a case of no food or drink, no meds.. Any tips on how to get her to atleast drink a little ?

Re: Just leaving for vet
If she likes the goats milk then by all means let her have some. It'll provide some nutrients as well.
She'll probably start to eat & drink more once the anaesthetic has properly worn off. It can take quite a few hours.

Re: Just leaving for vet
Thanks Caryll, she's a pain for going off her food and drink.... She did the same thing when we got Blake, its her way of protest I think.... She made me laugh earlier, lol. I heard her bark, she was upstairs on the bed, so I went up and she looked at me as if to say " carry me down then i'm poorly you know" I carried her down, she had a wee went to the stairs for a carry up.... Little bugger
