Leaving breakfast.
A few times now Tank has taken one look at his breakfast and walked away.
This morning he had chicken tripe mince - which is his usual Natures Menu meal. (same as Diesel) he took one mouthful and walked away.
After 10mins I cracked an egg over it to see if thst would entice him to eat - and ge just ate the damn egg.
I worry about Tank not eating meals cause he's still only a pup (albeit 13mths)
Do dogs get bored of a particular flavour ?

Re: Leaving breakfast.
Logan sometimes will leave his breakfast too, but if I just leave it there he eats in in an hour or so.
I've seen him get bored with particular brands of dry food before so yea, maybe it's possible to get bored with a flavour.

Before I put darcy on the Arden grange sensitive she sometimes turned her nose up at breakfast, but fingers crossed she been fine since the switch, maybe he's a bit fed up of that particular flavour.

They can get tired of a taste espically if they know they will get a treat or something later. Leave it down for 15 minutes or so and than take it back up.

Yes Moo can take or leave her breakfast and always has done since I got her as J said, leave it down for 15 mins and take it up.
I do love how they can pick the nice bits out though

Re: Leaving breakfast.
I agree, Roxie ate her lamb rib, ate her minced beef and even though I had mixed in the liver, after cutting it into tiny pieces, she managed to leave every little bit of liver in her bowl, lol. Good job Maisey loves liver.

Re: Leaving breakfast.
i try not to feed mince as dogs can get bored of it, i also feed once a day so they are hungry when fed and they never leave anything!
It helped Stuw with bailey who was leaving and refusing food going to 1 meal a day

Yup, Bailey started this, so I eventually moved him onto 1 meal a day. Some mornings ill give him a wee something if he looks like hes hungry, a spoonful of mince or a couple of chicken wings etc!
Hes been much better being on 1 meal and as Sierra's 7 months now she'll be on 2 meals till shes about 10-11 months then down to 1

Re: Leaving breakfast.
Zeus has literally started doing this the past week. Ever since we've had him, he normally gobbles up his breakfast but now looks at it, smells and then walks away.
I was thinking it may be because hes bored of the food? But when I put his evening meal down, he eats it straight away, so can't be because he's bored of the food?
