Indoor toilet confusion Empty Indoor toilet confusion

Post by Paris1990 Wed May 10 2017, 09:25

Hi Everyone,

I am just wondering if this is a thing.. Hank is really good at telling us when he wants to go outside to do his business and often if the door is already open he will stop mid play and run outside and go.

But as the weather has been really nice and sun shining through the window onto the floor (which he loves to just sit in, inside and outside) twice now he has went to go in the living room where the sun has been, Does he think he is already outside? because its really baffled me, I didn't think anything off it when it happened the first time, but it happened again this morning.

It could be! We all get a bit confused when we see the sun - it's that rare in the UK! Laughing

He's still very young - he'll get there soon.

I know! Laughing Hope we get more of it this year!

I quickly ushered him outside when he went to go, and after that he went out himself for a wee, he has definitely cottoned on to if he goes outside he gets a treat and a total fuss made of him Smile

Id watch for signs of him wanting to go outside and direct him there such as sniffing , maybe going round in circles possibly look at the door. I don't know if that's obvious advice but the more he knows he wants to go he will get into a routine

Yeah, he usually does do that but these 2 times he hasn't, which was why I was so confused haha, He had straight access to go right outside but he just started to squat in the sun, that's why I'm wondering if he thought he was already outside

He maybe did. But it's very normal for pups to regress sometimes with toilet training. Usually when we think they've cracked it a small phase of going in the house starts lol

As you will know,a dog usually circles around and finds somewhere that they have been previously. If he does have the odd accident indoors remember to disinfect the area to remove any trace of smell.Just leave your door open to the garden so he has easy access and praise him when he goes.
