Barking
Hello I'm after a little advice.
My boy always barks at people and dogs walking past when I'm in the house however when its just my kids and my mum in he doesn't make a sound.
Has anyone got any advice or experience with this please.

Re: Barking
Hi ya, welcome to the forum from Flo and me
So the barking only happens outside at other dogs etc? If that's the case redirect his attention to something really tasty like a high value treat. What you want to get him doing is thinking "If I bark-no treat" you want to form the habit of getting his attention and then reward. Negative reaction to what he's doing won't have the same effect, he simply won't understand what you want him to do instead.
Now that lot makes sense in my head but it might not to others so I'm hoping someone else might be able to explain it better

Re: Barking
Hi from me & Katy, she barks at everyone that comes past our house when I'm home but the neighbours say they don't hear her when I'm out! She likes to protect her mum from passing threats (as she see's them)

Re: Barking
I would direct his attention to other things and make the association with dogs and people outside positively he may sense your anxiety as you know whats going to happen when people and other dogs pass your house .perhaps a toy he can be rewarded with when he doesn't bark make a fuss of him but don't overdo it if you practice distraction at all times eventually he will realise he doesn't have to protect you.
