Unsure if our Staffy is a full Staffy.
Firstly I'm a newbie here so thanks in advance for any help that can be given. I'm a little concerned that our apparent Tall Staff could be Staffy/Pit Cross, maybe it's me being paranoid? but she has a liver coloured nose and green eye's, she's 12 weeks old and she's a lovely puppy, although when being scorned she becomes quite vocal at having a go back at me which everyone finds amusing except me.
I've contacted the lady from where we purchased her £350 the Mum (Full Staffy) was 3 years old 2nd litter but Dad was apparently a Tall Staffy donor of which the husband of the woman searched for? I wasn't happy but my wife had already chosen which one she wanted an from there there's no going back.
Over the last couple of days I've been trying to contact the lady and she seems to be dragging her feet she assures me Dad is a Full Tall Staffy she sent me a Black and White picture which furthered my cause for concern.
My concern is a police officer or a local warden see her and think she's a Pit or part pit they will take her, and if I can't prove she is full Staffy could they put her down, my wife is in pieces she suffers from MS and she doesn't need this worry put on her.
Sorry for such a long first post.
Regards
Alan

She's a lovely pup. It's hard to tell if she's full staff from one photo, plus she's very young and staffies vary a lot in size these days. From what I can see she looks like a staffy pup, try to relax, even if she is a cross it doesn't necessarily mean she's part pit. Wait and see.

It's unlikely that Lola is part Pit for as you know they have been a banned breed here in the UK for a good number of years which makes true Pits pretty rare. If you have a dog that is liver coloured then it is possible to have a red/liver coloured nose.
It could also be that there is some cross breed in there which could account for the red nose too. It takes some me time before a Staffy puppy fills out and looks like a classic Staffy.
As long as Lola is well socialised & friendly then you'll not have any worries. The vocal bit isn't uncommon either, my girl tells me off for leaving her home alone every time but again, if you have concerns with this then get some good training in early, at this early age it certainly isn't aggression as they don't have any concept of that at such an early age.
Try not to worry, enjoy Lola's puppy months while you can

Re: Unsure if our Staffy is a full Staffy.
I agree, it's impossible to tell at this age exactly what she'll grow up to be. Even if she isn't a full staffie, that doesn't make her a pit bull type.
The first thing you need to know is that the designation 'pit bull type' is based solely on looks. Breeding has, sadly, diddly squat to do with it. I say 'sadly' because it means that dogs that are crosses of a wide range of breeds get caught in the net, simply because the officer who does the assessment thinks they meet the measurements.
That means that you can have a staffie x ??? that might later on fit the bill, but you might equally get another staffie x ??? from the same litter that doesn't. It doesn't matter what the parents are, it's what the dog looks like that counts. Clearly, at Lola's age you just can't tell as she'll change shape as she grows.
Your best advice is as with any puppy, particularly any bull breed - socialise and train. Make sure you do your best to give no one any cause for concern and it's highly unlikely that you'll ever have a problem (other than the idiots who think that any bull breed should be shot). Teach her, as well as you can, not to rush up to people, err on the side of caution when meeting unfamiliar dogs, and have some basic obedience training in place so the world can see you have a well controlled dog. Puppy classes followed by some basic obedience classes are worth their weight in gold.
And if you do get the idiot in the park who lets his JRT rush up to you snapping, only to launch into how staffies should be banned, just smile sweetly and don't get into an argument. You'll never win!

firstly, there's no such thing as a "Tall Staffy". Yes, there are some that are taller than others, but that's all.
can you scan the pic you have of the dad & put it on here? i wonder why it's a black & white one?

Re: Unsure if our Staffy is a full Staffy.
Thank you all for your replies, it's certainly put us at ease at a little ignorance is a key thing here I think on our part and the people that have said she's got Pitt in her.
I've seen Dad but then they could of just got a friend with a Staff to say it was his dog they bred it with.
My concern was when she gets a little bigger that the police or local wardens would think she was a pit or cross pit and they try to take her off us.
But your messages have gave us some peace.
Thanks for the Tall Staffy warning I'd never heard of it myself but didn't want to look stupid so went along with it.
Many Thanks Again.

as long as your dog is brought up properly you probably won't have any problems.
however, IF you do, contact DDA Watch immediately & they will give you good guidance.
